Hi, my name is Franzi.
I am a qualified German teacher with several years of experience in teaching. German is my native language. I work in the beautiful city of Düsseldorf and mostly teach via Zoom. My goal? My teaching approach is communicative, meaning that the focus is on conversation and the content is very practical. We work with typical conversation situations from everyday life and work and use materials and texts that you can use there. You also receive homework that you can complete digitally or analogue. Of course, I always adapt my style to your interests and needs.

4. How is the personal learning strategy created?

Before the course begins, I conduct an oral and written placement test with you. You also explain your personal goals for the lesson and what you specifically need the German language for. Information about your previous experience with learning, your learning style, your learning strategies, and preferences for certain digital tools helps me to compile the appropriate materials for you. During the course, I also support you in developing your strategies for learning a new language so that you can learn as effectively as possible.

5. What is the goal of the German courses?

The goal depends a bit on your personal goals and what you need German for. If you want to improve your communication skills in the office, this is a specific, professional goal. If you want to learn German to make new friends and feel more comfortable in Germany, then the goal is to improve your everyday German. However, taking a German course will always help you feel more competent and integrate better, as you understand the language and culture better.

I offer regular chapter tests, correct your homework, and prepare you for the official language exams from Goethe and telc. Even if you do not want to take a language exam, we can still use the model tests of the language exams and simulate the exam to see how you would perform in an official exam. During the lessons, I also give you regular feedback on your progress and show you points where you still need to work.

I can better cater to your learning style and choose materials that suit you, which is more limited in a group course.

8. How is the scheduling structured?

This depends on whether you would like to take individual lessons or complete an entire level. A full level usually takes between 80 to 120 hours of lessons, depending on your learning pace, prior knowledge, and motivation. Additionally, there is personal study time and application. I will work with you until you reach your level. If you have a full-time job, I recommend 1 to 4 hours of lessons with a teacher per week.

9. Is there a guarantee for learning success?

I will do my best to help you reach your goals. I can motivate you, practice with you, and offer you suitable materials, and we'll have a lot of fun in the lessons. Ultimately, however, I can't learn for you. This means that you are responsible for your own learning success. Ask yourself: Do I really want to learn German and what am I willing to give? How much time and effort do you want to invest to reach your goal? If you are willing to participate regularly and learn a lot, I will be there for you, even if you are not motivated at times.
