About Me

Hi, I'm Janice. I'm a native English speaker born and raised in the US, and a graduate of New York University (NYU) where I majored in English Literature and Creative Writing on an academic scholarship.

I’ve spent the last several years working deeply with English text, both as an educator and a content creator here in Seoul. I have unique experience on the other side of test prep—working professionally to write and edit official US Common Core literature modules and digital SAT/ACT practice questions. Because I’ve actually designed these types of test materials (and scored a 1560 on my own SAT), I know exactly how to break down the logic of reading and writing sections for students without making it feel like mindless memorization.

My lessons are conducted 100% in English to give students a full immersion experience. I focus heavily on critical reading, essay structure, and helping students find their own voice in writing. I’m happy to help with:

My name is Santiago and I am offering individual and personalized virtual English classes to improve both your oral and written communication. The main focus of my classes is focused on developing fluent and structured communication of the English language either to prepare international exams, including the TOEFL and the FCE, or to be able to communicate properly in the professional field or to reinforce and maintain prior knowledge of this language.

I am a graduate, graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in the USA. Having learned English as a child at the Ivy Thomas Memorial School in Uruguay, and lived a year and a half in Thailand, followed by 4 years in the USA I acquired great knowledge and fluency in the English language.

In Thailand I spent a year and a half studying communication arts, which helped me, prepare for my studies in the US. I had several communication classes, learning techniques of how to speak better using not only our words but also our body to help us speak more naturally, calmly, and without getting nervous if we get stuck or forget what we wanted to say. During my career in the US, I was constantly writing essays for my classes, in addition to having to present projects in front of my teachers and classmates. At the same time, I was working at university and after graduation I worked for a year, mainly having long phone conversations with people from all over the country.

Nowadays the ability to communicate in English is essential and I am going to prepare you so that you can meet your goals. It could be, studying abroad, going to live in an English-speaking country, improving your communication in the professional field, or keep practicing so as not to lose the previously acquired level.

The most effective way to learn English is to let your subconscious do the work for you. You'll need as much speaking experience as possible to do so, which I can help you with! If someone enjoys what they are learning, it will come to them more easily. If all you do is study in a classroom or watch English content online, when you find yourself needing to speak or write in English, you may struggle. You cannot just memorize the sentence structure for every sentence you will ever make. You need to learn to think in English on the spot, and develop your own go-to phrases. The best way to do this is to immerse yourself by speaking with English natives.
