About Me

Hi, I'm Abbie!

I'm a recent graduate from Durham University, with a degree in Modern Languages and Cultures. I spent a year of my undergraduate living in Frankfurt and Bavaria, where I taught English in a secondary school and language summer camps.

Currently, I work for an EdTech company in London. When I'm not working, I enjoy fitness and seeing friends.

2018 - 2022: First Class Honours in Modern Languages and Cultures (BA) from Durham University. This included a Year Abroad placement.

I have experience of 6 years in teaching basic German language. A very basic German course is also available for travel purpose.
The classes will be held at student's place and in a very friendly way. The language is taught by understanding the students' capabilities and learning speed. All four skills -reading, writing, speaking and listening will be cultivated with the practice of each skill daily.

I specialise in teaching students any aspect of German language, literature and culture as well as any aspect of European history from the Roman times to the present. Preparing students for GCSE and A-Level exams or any of the German language exams.

I have been teaching German to GCSE and A-Level students and adults since graduating from the University of Cambridge in 2012 with a degree (BA and MA [Hons]) in Modern Languages. I focus on speaking and grammar, and reintroducing a love of the language, which sadly seems to be missing from many schools. When we get closer to the exam period, I focus on exam technique and giving the examiners what they are looking for.

My exam guide for GCSE Spanish and German students have been published and are currently available on Amazon, and I am also the designer for these courses on the study app and website Study Rocket!

German is a difficult language. I would like to assist anyone learning with my native german skills. I have a very good understanding of language and want to give you insight on how the language is used in a natural way. There will be speaking exercise and creative writing if you're more advanced. As a big poetry and classic literature fan, i would love to introduce you to the german classics, from tales like Snow White to Rainer Maria Rilke's moving poetry.

Learning a new language is both rewarding and extremely useful. German is spoken by tens of millions of people worldwide and can prove to be a valuable tool for the job market.

Additionally, a plethora of immensely important works of philosophy, literature, psychology and many more fields were - and are - published in German, enabling a speaker to broaden their field of knowledge. This class is perfect for those who are wishing to learn a new language, improve upon existing knowledge of German or those wishing to explore German literature and history more closely.

Become a Poliglot. Research shows that learning languages causes anatomical changes in the brain. It causes new connections between neurons, which can contribute to the enlargement of certain parts of the brain...
And so less scientifically? The use of several languages is pure joy, satisfaction and a wide path to any success in life.
I am Polish. I always have heard that it's good to speak languages of your neighbours. So I have learnt German and Russian. English was an obvious choice for a professional life. Presently I am learning Hebrew just for fun, because I like the idea of knowing three different alphabets.

We can do together homeworks from your school, learn vocabulary, repeat grammar, read, listen, sing, talk and discover the motherland of the chosen language.
I am not a professional teacher, but I have a passion for learning and I would like to share this passion. For two years I have been working in schools as a teaching assistant or general cover. Pupils enjoy cooperation with me, have fun and feel comfortable in process.

In this class, we'll start learning German from the level you are currently at and get you speaking German confidently whilst getting to know the culture. We won't go through dull slideshows on grammar rules, but pick it up effortlessly, by exploring different German-language media.

I am experienced in preparing students for GCSE exams, Goethe exams as well as German Abitur. All my students have received excellent results in their exams (9/A*).

I won the Association of German Saturday Schools UK and Goethe Institute's Teaching Award 2025.

I have an enhanced DBS certificate and have safeguarding training for working with children.
