If you're interested in discovering and understanding music, learning about new technical solutions, and gaining joy and inspiration for making music, then you've come to the right place, and you're very welcome!

The main focus of my teaching is understanding music as a language with its own fascinating laws, acquiring technical means that enable you to practice independently and efficiently, a safe way of memorizing, and developing your own musical approaches to interpretation.

It is very important to me to address your personal needs in my lessons. Together we will choose pieces that suit you and offer you both moments of success and just the right amount of new challenges to open up further worlds and possibilities.

I have taught masterclasses and master courses at conservatories and universities in Europe, Africa and Asia, have many years of experience as an internationally performing soloist and chamber musician, have recorded CDs and am a prize winner of international competitions.

In addition to regular piano lessons, I offer targeted, solution-oriented individual coaching for more experienced pianists, provide support with competition and exam preparation, and coach chamber music groups. Beginners interested in developing a solid technique and the desire to understand and explore music are also very welcome.

About Me
To give you an idea of who I am and my career path, you can find my CV here:

Anna Magdalena Kokits began playing piano at the age of four, also received several years of violin lessons, and graduated with distinction in 2014 with a degree in piano performance from the Vienna Conservatory Private University (now the Music and Arts Private University of Vienna), where she studied under Alejandro Geberovich. She then pursued advanced studies in piano chamber music with Avedis Kouyoumjian at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Anna Magdalena Kokits performed with orchestras such as the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Moscow Virtuosi and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra at a young age and attracted attention early on as a prize winner of national and international competitions (including as a special prize winner of the Beethoven Piano Competition Vienna 2009).

Numerous concerts have repeatedly taken her to important concert halls, including the Musikverein Wien, the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as to festivals such as the Brahmsfest Mürzzuschlag, the Carinthian Summer, the Styriarte, the Quincena Musical de San Sebastián Festival, the Musical Summer in East Frisia, the Music Festival Schloss Weinzierl and the Festival St. Gallen.

Since 2006, Anna Magdalena Kokits has been teaching and coaching pianists both in long-term collaborations and in the context of masterclasses and master courses, for example at the International Music Meeting Center Haus Marteau in Lichtenberg, Germany; at the Academy of Arts of the University of Pristina, Kosovo; at the Cairo Conservatoire of Music, Egypt; at Nairobi University and Kenyatta University, Kenya, and the Conservatory of Music in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Since 2024 she has been teaching at the Vienna Piano School, and she also participated in its International Summer School in 2025.

Anna Magdalena Kokits' curiosity about unknown or forgotten music has inspired her since her student days to include rarely heard pieces in her concerts. This includes, in particular, works by female composers as well as Jewish composers who were forced into exile and subsequently forgotten.
In her programming, she prefers to juxtapose works from the core piano repertoire with these (re)discoveries and also contemporary music. During the concerts, she uses explanatory and narrative commentary to create a connection between the emerging dialogues across eras and styles.

In addition to her solo career, she is devoted to chamber music. Even as a teenager, she intensively studied music for four and six hands, as well as for two pianos. From 2007 to 2014, she performed in a duo with cellist Alexander Gebert (formerly a member of the Altenberg Trio, now at the Detmold University of Music), with whom she gave two concerts annually at the Vienna Musikverein from 2009 to 2013, focusing on rare works of cello and piano literature. In 2012, they recorded a joint performance of cello sonatas by the Jewish-Austrian composers Karl Weigl, Erich Zeisl, Hans Gál, and Ernst Toch.

Other renowned chamber music partners with whom Anna Magdalena Kokits has a long-standing collaboration include Gidon Kremer, Dimitri Ashkenazy, Eduard Brunner, Herbert Kefer (Artis Quartet), Rudolf Leopold (Vienna String Sextet), Ingolf Turban, Paul Gulda, Christoph Koncz, Klaus Christa, Lily Francis, Alexey Stadler and the Bennewitz Quartet.

The catalyst for Anna Magdalena Kokits' active engagement with contemporary music was an encounter with Richard Dünser in 2008, which led to his work "The Garden of Desires" (2010), dedicated to Anna Magdalena Kokits and Alexander Gebert. Since then, she has collaborated with numerous composers. She is the dedicatee of several works and has performed and premiered music by, among others, Tomasz Skweres, Heinz Karl Gruber, Thomas Larcher, Helmut Schmidinger, Manuela Kerer, Kurt Schwertsik, Lukas Haselböck, Christoph Renhart, René Clemencic, Valentin Silvestrov, Philippe Hersant, and Vivian Fung.

In 2016, Anna Magdalena Kokits was chosen by the Austrian Foreign Ministry as Austria's representative performer for new music within the framework of the music promotion program NASOM (New Austrian Sound of Music).

Anna Magdalena Kokits' encounter with and fascination with the music of Ernst Toch (1887-1964) resulted in a CD recording of the composer's piano works for the Capriccio label. The recording, released in 2017, includes several world premiere recordings and features liner notes written and researched by the artist herself. As part of this recording project, Kokits immersed herself in the subject and history of Jewish composers in exile. Her research into Toch's life and work led her, among other places, to the composer's estate at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) and to New York for interviews with Toch's grandson, Lawrence Weschler.

Anna Magdalena Kokits views her international concert career, which in recent years has taken her to Germany, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Finland, Norway, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Latvia, Poland, Greece, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Mexico, Israel, Palestine, Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, China, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Qatar, Canada, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Switzerland, Kosovo, and the USA, as a platform for creating cultural and artistic exchange. She often combines her concert tours with teaching masterclasses, visiting schools and universities as well as cultural institutions and events, and performing with musicians from the respective countries.

May I introduce myself?

my name is Yunjeong.
I was born in 1996 in Ulsan, South Korea.
When I was a child, I loved listening to classical music a lot. I started playing the piano when I was 6.
In 2012 I started studying at Busan High School of Arts. I graduated from this course when I was 19, and then went on to study at Chugye Art University in Seoul. There I had the opportunity to learn a lot and to play with different musicians.
I am currently attending the Franz Schubert Conservatory for a Master of Music. I'm studying piano there.

While learning to play the piano, I have taught diverse students with different musical experiences.

I could see a lot of improvement besides that.

I still want to teach more students for your fun, aim, study and achieve well enough.

I would be very happy if I could teach many students with my knowledge of music.

I can teach you how to sing with piano playing, how to read sheet music quickly effectively, how to improve a sense of music.

I offer classes tailored to the level of each student.

If you are interested about me, please message me!

Thanks for the attention!

Hi, I'm Karoline! I have a Bachelor of Education from the University of Music and performing arts Vienna and have been teaching for several years.

Whether you are a complete beginner (of any age) or have been playing for many years - my lessons will be customized to fit you personal needs and goals. For me the most important thing is to pass down my passion for the instrument and music and to teach you how to be confident with your instrument.

I can also prepare you for exams (i.e. entrance exams for a music university) and teach lessons in music theory and ear training. In my lessons I like to occasionally use methods from elementary music education, which focuses on musical expression. That way you can practice to express yourself and your feelings on the instrument and the typical fear of mistakes is being avoided.

I teach in a beautiful room with a grand piano near the Belvedere. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I look forward to meeting you and making music together! :)
