About Me

Constantin was born in Vienna in 1994.
He began his musical training at the age of 5 and soon switched to the highly gifted course at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. His teachers include Stefan Kropfitsch, Wolfgang Herzer, Maria Grün and Othmar Müller.
He is currently studying with Georg Baich at the private university of the City of Vienna.

Education

Constantin has won numerous national and international competitions, including two 1st prizes at the Giovani Talenti Rovere d'Oro international competition in Italy, as well as several 1st and 2nd prizes at the Austrian national and regional Prima la Musica competition.
As part of international master classes, he received artistic training from Rudolf Leopold, Csaba Onczay, Wolfgang Panhofer, Adam Javorkai and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi. He is currently a scholarship holder of the Alban Berg Foundation for the “International Music Academy Orpheus” master class.

Experience / Qualifications

Constantin's solo and chamber music concert activities have taken him to international and national stages, including the USA (Illinois), Italy and Japan, the Wiener Musikverein, the Wiener Konzerthaus, Porgy & Bess, the Beethoven House, the Haydn House and the Schubert house. In 2014 he gave world premieres of works by the Italian composer Claudio Gabriele. He performed as a soloist with the youth orchestras Viva la Musica, Musici Domani, in 2019 with the Soloist Chamber Orchestra of the Vienna University of Music with Haydn's and Vivaldi's cello concerts, and most recently in 2020 with the University Orchestra of Music and Art, Vienna University.
Since 2015 Constantin has been a founding member of the Phil Arte Trio, with which he is a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and an active member of "Live Music Now".

You have chosen to play the most wonderful instrument there is. I have been playing the cello for almost two decades and I can tell you it is a beautiful and rewarding journey, and I would not be where I am today without a group of extraordinary teachers and mentors that have been with me along the way and shared their wisdom and experience with me. Now it is my turn to share. I have been teaching for a few years and I love watching my students develop, enjoy the cello, learn new things, and become better at expressing themselves in the universal language of music. Whether you are a complete beginner or an intermediate/advanced level player, I would be happy to offer my guidance and perspective on anything you want to work on and improve. Studio Policy
This policy is in place to protect the student, the parent of the student, and the teacher and serves to ensure that lessons run smoothly.

Lessons/Payment:
Students may enroll in lessons at any time. Lessons will take place at the teacher’s studio in Vienna, Austria. Online lessons are facilitated using Skype/Facetime/Zoom.
Tuition is paid monthly and is calculated by multiplying the lesson rate by 4 weeks (3 or 5 weeks for certain months). Additional lessons are allowed based on the teacher’s availability. If I am traveling for a big portion of the month, I will let you know in advance, so that the tuition for that month is multiplied by the number of weeks I will be at home.
Single lessons in the form of a consultation or master class are available if you are not ready to commit to a monthly package.
If you have special circumstances that prevent you from taking weekly lessons or traveling to my studio, please contact me directly and I will do my best to accommodate your situation.
Tuition is to be paid at least 24 hours in advance of the first lesson of each month. Tuition is payable through Apprentus. For the consultation/single lesson, a one-time lesson fee is to be paid at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson. Your timely payment serves as a confirmation of our time agreement. If I do not hear from you nor get the payment at least 24 hours before the lesson, I reserve the right to reschedule and/or cancel the scheduled lesson.

Tardiness:
The student will contact the teacher by phone if they expect to be late for a scheduled lesson. If a student arrives after their scheduled lesson time has begun, the teacher will complete the lesson in the remaining portion of the time slot. Additional time for student tardiness is not guaranteed.
If the teacher arrives after a scheduled lesson has begun, the teacher will give additional time past the time slot to compensate for their tardiness with mutual acceptance of the student’s schedule.

Rescheduling/Cancellations:
Students must cancel/reschedule lessons by phone or email with at least 24-hour notice. Cancellations are considered excused for illness, family emergency, or severe weather (public school closures). Excused cancellations with sufficient notification will be given a make-up lesson within the month or lesson credit towards the following month. No-shows, cancellations without sufficient notification, or unexcused cancellations will not be given make-up lessons or lesson credits.
The teacher may need to cancel a lesson due to illness or a family emergency and/or reschedule due to performance engagements or planned vacations. In this case, the teacher will provide a make-up lesson within the month or apply a lesson credit towards the following month. If desired, the make-up lesson can also be taken online via Skype.
If a student cancels a re-scheduled make-up lesson, the lesson will be considered forfeited. Make-up lessons are not guaranteed and are subject to availability. If a make-up lesson is not possible, a lesson credit will be applied toward the following month.

Copyright/class recordings:
Lessons and seminars are considered intellectual property and may not be recorded (audio or video). The teacher is legally protected in case of a breach of this agreement.
The teacher is entitled to immediate termination of the lesson/package without a refund if this rule is broken.
The teacher is entitled to legal action in case of copyright infringement.
Parental Involvement for younger students:
I do not teach children below the age of 10 via Skype as they require hands-on work to form correct playing habits and posture.
Students 10 years and younger must have a parent or guardian present at the lesson. The parent will take notes and act as the student’s “home teacher”. Parental involvement is welcomed and strongly encouraged for all students, but not required for students 10 years and older.

Born in Austria into a musical family, Aleksander (19) began playing the cello alongside his mother, Eva principal solo-cellist at the Carinthia Symphony Orchestra, at the age of 5. He is winner of national and international music festivals. He received 1st place at the international “Petar Konjovic” competition in Belgrade (Serbia), 3rd place at the international “Antonio Janigro” competition in Porec (Croatia), 1st place at the 'Landeskampf Jugend Musiziert Nord- und Ost Europa' in Copenhagen (Denmark), 4 times 1st places in solo and chamber categories at the all-nation music competition 'Prima La Musica' in Austria and he was finalist of the Virtuosos Music Competition and Talent Show in Hungary, he is winner of the 6th Augustin Aponte international music competition 2021 in Spain, where he also got the special award for the 'Best performance'.
