Hello! My name is Megan and I offer in-person and online music lessons for musicians young and old, from experienced to advanced. If you are interested in learning to play piano, learning to sing, basic to advanced music theory, and more, you have come to the right place. I am a music educator specializing in voice, general musicianship, and music theory. I am a graduate of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at Cal State Long Beach, and a current graduate student of musicology at Utrecht University. Looking for a piano teacher? In Utrecht you will find the friendly Spanish professional pianist Mar. She lives in Utrecht and studies at the Rotterdam Codarts Conservatory of Music, and has already a master's degree from the Utrecht Conservatory (with pedagogical training as well)

I have been working for 12 years as a piano and music teacher (I started very very young, when I was 14 years old, because I always liked teaching): I have experience in private lessons and official state music schools, with children from 2 years and adults of all levels, both teaching individually and in groups. I have taught piano, music and movement for children, music theory, solfeggio and choir.

I finished my bachelor studies with the highest marks, I have experience as a concert performer and have won prizes in competitions and several scholarships prizes.

The way I teach actually depends entirely on the student. The way I explain the concepts, plan and structure the lessons and approach each subject all depends on whether the student is a beginner, intermediate or advanced, and whether he or she has some experience on the subject.

Each student has different needs and different abilities. It's just a matter of getting to know the student, in order to identify both the weaknesses and strengths on which to work.

Sax lessons!
Invented by Adolphe Sax, the saxophone is a unique instrument that combines the warm and powerful sounds of brass and woodwinds. Thanks to its versatility, the saxophone feels at home in all kinds of music styles, from blues to classical.

We play the music you like, while also working on important basic skills, good technique and even exploring improvisation. Fun and creativity are key!

In addition, there is the possibility, once you have learned something, to join our saxophone group. Making music together is not only fun, but also inspiring!

Singing lessons for all levels and age. For beginners, together we can discover the range of your voice and build the breathing and singing technique. At the same time we will work on music theory, ear training and how to read a score. For mature singers, we can delve into the singing technique and interpretation and add pieces in your repertoire. The lessons are provided both online and in person and can be held in English or Greek. I also speak some Italian and German.

About me
I have been playing the piano for 15 years. I have studied Classical Singing in the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata (Greece) and I have followed a two-year Early Music Programme in Athens Conservatoire. At the same time I studied Music Theory (Harmony) at the Greek National Conservatoire from which I gained my Harmony degree.
In addition, I have a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Here in The Netherlands, I finished my masters at the Utrechts Conservatorium and worked as a singer at the NKK NXT 2022-2023.

I have participated in Operas (“Julius Cesar”- 2015 in Athens Concert Hall and “Alcina”-2019 in Odeon of Herodes Atticus) as a member of a vocal ensemble and I have also performed as a soloist in many concerts. Some of the stages I have performed are: Concertgebouw Amsterdam, TivoliVredenburg, Schouwburg Concertzaal Tilburg, Athens Concert Hall, Greek National Opera and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

With the Suzuki method, everyone can learn to play the violin!
The main components of the Suzuki method are:

Start young (from 3 years old).
Listening to music frequently.
Learning to play before learning to read music notation (native language method).
Parental involvement (Parents study with their children at home).

I love teaching guitar, and I am good at it. Learning music is similar to learning a language. We learn by imitating the sounds that we hear. During this stage, I also incorporate proper technique; how the instrument should be held and how the strings should be strummed or plucked. Once the sound is adequately imitated, we look at influences and start developing vocabulary. Finally, I want to ensure the student can replicate these precise sounds. I do this by teaching the theory and reasoning behind the vocabulary.

My flute lessons are available in a flexible time frame from 30 minutes to 1 hour, with a frequency of weekly or biweekly, depending on your preference. As a graduated flutist with a bachelor and master degree from the conservatory, where teaching was an important part of my education, I have experience with both group lessons and individual lessons.
