I create a learning experience (content and pace) adapted to your needs: speaking fluently, DELF/ DALF test preparation, conversations to help with travel or relocation or simply the pleasure of talking about subjects you are interested in. We can have our lessons in a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying various aspects of learning a language. It's not just about memorizing complex conjugations!

I work with a variety of online resources, all of which is shared with you after the lesson. For structure and to evaluate progress, I also work with certain books depending on the level and the requirement. Unless you wish to focus on specific skills, I try to include speaking, listening and reading during the session, while writing exercises are given as homework. Grammar points are handled as and when they come up.

About Me

I am originally from India and currently live in Utrecht. Because I learned French as a second language myself, I understand how difficult it can be to master the language. Having taught at various Alliance Française centres over several years, I enjoy the element of fun which is an integral part of learning a language. I am an easy-going person and I have a passion for words, books, languages and, of course, for teaching.

Masters in French (University of Pondicherry and Rennes II, Brittany), Teacher training at CAVILAM, Vichy, DALF C1 (Alliance Française Amsterdam), DAEFLE in 2020 (Teaching qualification)

Experience / Qualifications

8 years as a teacher at Alliance Française de Trivandrum and Alliance Française de Bangalore, tutoring for students, courses in various companies such as Deutsche Bank, Wipro, Capgemini, Honeywell, a year and a half as private tutor in Amsterdam and four years now in Utrecht, working with more than eighty students who opted for private lessons for a range of reasons.

Bonjour!
My name is Théo and I am a French native, I am 24 years old and I arrived in Utrecht in September. I graduated from a two years masters degree in History of art and Museology in 2020. I had the opportunity to teach these subjects to bachelor students for a year, so I have some experience in teaching at a university level. I have also given French lessons to a little German boy who lived in my neighbourhood, from his primary to middle school years. I believe I have sufficient experience experince in teaching French at different levels and would love to conitnue giving private lessons. In order to make the lessons more original and dynamic, I could also include art historical references to the classes. I am enthusiastic, patient and professional. My aim is to build a trusting relationship with the students, which I believe will help them succeed.

I teach in a small setting at home or online, which used to be in large groups at, for example, popular universities or course projects. Experience shows that your own input in such a large group often gets overlooked. What I really enjoy now is to work with the student (s) on expanding vocabulary step by step, improving general understanding of the language with the ultimate goal of becoming more familiar with it so that he or her can speak getting easier.
All this is done using. a lesson folder and audiovisual material or current affairs articles. A relaxed atmosphere is the key to success!

You'll get to improve your french by engaging in discussion with me about themes that relate to the culture of french speaking countries, and also themes you might want to suggest.
