Do you want to understand what is happening in music you hear or play? Do you want to improve your musical ear? Do you want to know more about important music composers? Then join my music course! We can start completely from beginning or adjust our lessons depending on your current knowledge.

Usually, to get basic overview of music theory, students should go through all major and minor scales, to understand the system behind, to be able to write them down and to sing or play them on their instrument. Then, we can easily learn intervals, build chords and later explore other modes and methods of music analysis. Eventually, for the most devoted students, four-voice harmony arranging and counterpoint writing opens up.

Our study time should be dedicated to music history as well. Theory of harmony was developing together as composition styles were changing over our history. That's why it's useful to be able to distinguish between major music styles, to hear the differences and to categorise world-wide known composers.

Finally, we will also find time for solfeggio and ear training. Musicians use their hearing as an important tool for their musical activities. After scales, intervals and chords are saved in one's memory, ears become a good helper they can always rely on. While practicing a music instrument or singing, musicality is naturally developing. Then, the basic cadence sounds familiar, something many times heard. However, without theoretical knowledge, we cannot give it a name. We know it, but we don't know what it is and what other variants it has. After thorough study and practice of sounds and frequencies recognition, student can recognise any given resonance. Solfeggio training helps to develop rhythmicality, intonation, overall musicality and it's fun.

About Me
All my life has been entwined with music. When I was a six-year-old child, my parents signed me to an elementary art school in Košice. I studied accordion and drums for seven years and electric guitar for four years. During these years of playing musical instruments my relationship with music became very strong.

Later I studied classical guitar performance at Jozef Adamovič Conservatory in Košice for six years, including two-year pedagogy and psychology vocational courses and internship at an art school for children.

After graduating I was teaching children playing guitar and piano at elementary art school in Sečovce for two years. Then I was accepted to musicology programme at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. I studied one semester at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn. During my last academic year, I was teaching music theory group lessons at elementary art school in Bratislava.

When living in Stockholm, I was piano teacher at a culture school and as freelancer. Now I have a music transcription job for a museum and resuming private teaching.

I have experience in giving music lessons in Slovak, English and Swedish. If needed, I can prepare lessons in Estonian as well, currently I am at B1 level.

Andrea
Music is in the origin of human history and is one of the oldest form of art and communication. It is the fundament of our culture, of ourselves. Only through music, we as the human race could evolve. Let's learn how to write music by becoming familiar with harmony, solfeggio, counterpoint.

Andrea was born in Latina in 1996. His interest in music began as a child thanks to the influence of his uncle self-taught musician. The fascination of creation and musical production led him at the age of 13 to begin studies of Composition (under the guidance of Maestro Alberto Meoli) and Classical Guitar (with Maestro Giuseppe Gazzelloni and Maestro Marco del Greco) at the "Ottorino Respighi" conservatory in Latina.
During his studies he has participated in numerous masterclasses with composers such as Leo Brouwer, Richard Causton, Toshio Hosokawa, Danny Elfman. In 2018 he participated in the annual composition course held by Giorgio Colombo Taccani as part of the LeAltreNote festival.
His works have been performed in several European countries by artists such as Ensemble Fractales (Belgium), Birmingham Contemporary Music Group (United Kingdom), Estonian Police Wind Orchestra (Estonia), Fabrice Pierre (France), Stefano Parrino, Stefano Di Loreto (Italy ),...
Among the awards obtained: 3rd prize at the Wolfgang Jacobi competition in Trossingen with “Cinque Miniature” for alto saxophone and accordion; 2nd prize in the Musica Nova competition (M ° Ennio Morricone jury director) in Latina with “I am vertical” for ensemble and soprano; O / Modernt Music Award in 2020 in Stockholm with “Ein Körnchen Sands” for mezzo-soprano, cello and piano; audience prize in the Tärkav Vask.ID competition in Tallinn with the piece "Śūnyatā" for wind orchestra; finalist in January 2021 in the Musequal competition in Helsinki with "Le vrai vert de l’ésperance" for violin, cello and piano.
He is currently completing a master's in composition with Helena Tulve at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater in Tallinn, Estonia.
