Music lessons! (Exploring rock instruments and songwriting)

Our lessons are uniquely designed to give you the skills you need to make the music you want to make. We begin by teaching a single instrument, for example, the guitar. We learn about how a guitar works, how you play it, and how different guitarists have defined and redefined how the instrument can be used. But underlying the guitar are universal music concepts that can be applied to any instrument anywhere; things like tone, melody, rhythm, and composition. Once you’ve got a handle on the guitar, we learn how these musical concepts can be applied elsewhere. Depending on interest and creative curiosity, in our lessons, we can explore guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice, basic recording and production, music notation, classical composition, song and lyric writing, playing with a band, and performing music. The process of learning music is never complete. We hope to give our students the tools they need to spend their whole lives learning, playing, and enjoying music.

About Me
Hi! My name is Jacob. I’ve been teaching music lessons since I was in high school but music has been part of my life for much longer. I took my first music lessons when I lived in Accra, Ghana from a man named Rev. At the time my career ambition was to learn to play Crazy Frog on guitar. Fast forward to now and I have a B.A. in Music Composition from Seattle Pacific University, I’ve played on over a dozen albums including my own full length album, and I’ve toured the western U.S. many times. More importantly, I’m a continual learner and a believer that music and art are crucial components of our own lives and central parts of a thriving community.
Education
B.A. in Music Composition from Seattle Pacific University. In my undergraduate degree I studied 20th century music and composition as well as spending two years in the music therapy program!
Experience / Qualifications
Over 10 years of performing, touring and recording experience. I've been all over the western half of the U.S. playing drums and guitar!
