I first identify which points are problematic in order to increase the efficiency of the courses. Then, depending on the student's requests and difficulties, I re-explain certain poorly understood theoretical concepts and solve exercises with him. For the theory, I make sure to explain the material as I would have liked to have been explained to me during my studies and I review the points of the course from new angles in order to facilitate understanding. For the exercises, I first let the student suggest his method of solving because each problem can be approached in several ways and it is much more productive to start from the student's ideas. I favor understanding by heart because I consider that memorization is only rarely necessary in math and science. Once the material is perfectly assimilated, we retain it much longer than if we study it without understanding it. My engineering studies allowed me to better link the abstract concepts of mathematics and science to concrete problems. If the student needs it, I can therefore easily give many visual and intuitive examples in order to speed up understanding. As a young engineering student who's studied and spoken English all his life, I have a complete grasp on math and english subjects that I use everyday. My goal is to help students who need an extra push to understand certain concepts, and to give them the tools required to succeed at school, or an added understanding of colloquial and scholarly English.
