About Me
Ciao! I am Carolina, 48 years old, mother of two young girls. I live in Brussels (Belgium) since 2011.
I was born in Spoleto (Umbria, Italy) and grew up in Rome. I left Rome in June 2002, after an MSc degree in Economics from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" (2001) and a short internship at the Ministry of Economics and Finance. Since then, I've been working and living abroad.
In the period 2002-1010, I work as a consultant/economist in various institutions -- private companies, governmental and non-governmental organizations -- located all around the world (the most relevant ones: Financité in Brussels; InterSOS in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Angola; MicroSave in India; SafeSave in Bangladesh; IFAD in Rome).
In the years 2011-2021, I work full-time in the academia, starting with a four-year PhD, joint-degree between the University of Mons (UMONS) and the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium, funded with the Belgian Action de Recherche Concerteé (ARC) fellowship. Then, for three years I am postdoc researcher at the University of California, Berkeley (USA), and at the ULB, thanks to a scholarship from the Belgian Fund for Scientific Research (FRS-FNRS). Finally, I worked for four years as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen (RUG) in the Netherlands.
From January 2022, I am working as freelance university lecturer. Currently I teach courses in finance at the Université libre de Bruxelles and at the University of Groningen.
