English classes with motivated (and motivating) native British English teacher in Brussels/Ath!

From 41 C$ /h

I love to look at the out the box and blend your own experience with real life scenarios to create a connection the English language that isn’t just a grammar table. However, I do admit that I am a "grammar junkie" and it's something that I like to go through in detail with my students

- No question will ever be answered with the words “it’s just like that” because 9/10 there is a very good reason for it.

You might be a new to English or a "seasoned pro", either way my class is a safe space where you can try things out. Mistakes are welcome and through those that we build our way up to where we want to be. I want you push yourself and take a risk; right or wrong.

-You’ll get it right many more times that you think – believe me!

----------------------------------------------

I am an eager and enthusiastic teacher who has just moved to Brussels with a big curiosity for other cultures. This coupled with my desire to bring people together enables me to continually strike a balance between education, engagement and enjoyment inside the learning environment.

After having completing my CELTA (Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) just under two years ago, I have accumulated a mass of experience including adult and secondary school classes, adult/teen individual lessons. I have worked with companies such as Air France, Disneyland and Home24 focusing on interview coaching, written assignment correction and exam preparation (IELTS).

German-American offers its humble services to accompany you in learning its mother tongues, whether it's for exam success or just for the simple pleasure of better understanding the words of Goethe or Faulkner.
Sharing my languages through common interests, such as music, theater or film, are my favorite ways to start learning.
The learning approach is of course tailor-made, according to the desires, needs and abilities of the learner.

I did tutoring for three years. After a long break in order to finish my studies as a specialized educator, I decided to resume.

I can help primary school students in all subjects as well as secondary school students (but only for literary/language subjects).

I studied at a translation school in English and Spanish as well as at a special education school. I lived in England for a year and my father is Chilean, so I speak Spanish perfectly.

I also have the First Certificate of English diploma.

I adapt my working methods according to the students and their needs. I find it essential to create the course with the student, so that my teaching is best suited to the person in front of me.

Do not hesitate to contact me for more information and/or a meeting!

Originally from the UK, I have been working and travelling abroad for the last few years so I understand the difficulties and beauty of learning a new language. I enjoy working with conversation practice as well as more traditional methods of learning grammer - I believe it is important to adapt to each individual's needs and areas of interest in the process of helping them achieve their goals. I have worked as an English teacher to refugees as well as teaching dance and somatic movement practices online and in person. Currently I am based in Brussels but am happy to work online or come to you! In my own creative practice I work with poetry as well as performative spoken word, however I am happy to talk about a wide range of subjects with you. I will encourage you to read and discover new vocabulary at your own speed as well as in classes in a non-judgmental and fun atmosphere.

The best way to learn a language is to practice it, listen to it and read it! This is why, as far as possible, the lessons will be given IN English, in order to train both your ear and to push you to answer/think in English.

A large part of the learning will go through the oral practice of the language: you will be invited to express yourself on various subjects that interest you.

Depending on your interests, we can practice English through different activities: cooking, music, cinema, etc.

Do not hesitate to call on me, if your objective is:
- To acquire a more fluent English / to converse
- Work on your pronunciation/accent
- To rework a written text / train your written expression
- To learn the basics of the language (grammar, spelling, etc.)

I am used to working with children and can adapt to all audiences.
I also offer lessons for the little ones, for a fun initiation with games and small activities (cooking, crafts, walks, drawing, etc.).
I can also address an adult audience seeking to acquire fluent English, a developed vocabulary, and ease in specific contexts.
