I am an eager and enthusiastic teacher who has just moved to Brussels with a big curiosity for other cultures. This coupled with my desire to bring people together enables me to continually strike a balance between education, engagement and enjoyment inside the learning environment.

After having completing my CELTA (Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) just under two years ago, I have accumulated a mass of experience including adult and secondary school classes, adult/teen individual lessons. I have worked with companies such as Air France, Disneyland and Home24 focusing on interview coaching, written assignment correction and exam preparation (IELTS).

I do tutoring for primary and secondary students. However, I cannot help with science subjects for secondary school students.

My father being Chilean, Spanish is my second language.

Regarding English, I lived in England for a year where I took lessons. I also babysat children in Italy for several months, with whom I had to speak English constantly. I also have the First Certificate of English diploma.

I took courses in a translation school for two years in English and Spanish. It allowed me to see in depth the grammar of these two languages and study them at a higher level.

I gave French lessons for three years to non-French speakers.

I try to find the method that corresponds to each one. Indeed, it is important for me to understand how the person to whom I am teaching works in order to best adapt my teaching. I don't think there's just one method, and imposing one on someone isn't productive for me.

I am an American student living and studying in Brussels. My teaching methods are based largely on my own experiences studying French, German and Japanese, combined with careful consideration of the interests and learning style of the student.

The primary and most important motivation in language learning is the desire to understand and take part in another culture. I therefore try to understand why my students would like to learn English, and what aspects of English-speaking culture interest them, whether it be films, literature, music, etc.

Our lessons will be primarily conversations entirely in English (or as much as possible) with corrections when needed. Using your current English level and the kinds of mistakes you make as a guide, we can look at grammar, pronunciation, and other topics to improve your level.
