As a master's student in computer science at EPFL and a student assistant for several years, I am used to explaining complex concepts to people with very different backgrounds. I love logic, well-constructed reasoning, and those moments when everything finally “clicks.” My approach is simple: understand how you think, then adapt the explanation, not the other way around.

I offer math and programming lessons, adapted to all levels, in French or English.

In math, I can help from the most basic level up to the end of high school: algebra, analysis, functions, derivatives, integrals, probabilities, mathematical logic, or simply consolidating the basics. The goal is not to memorize formulas, but to understand the reasoning behind them (yes, they make sense, I promise :) ).

In programming, I support students and beginners as well as more advanced learners in Python, Java, Scala, C/C++, and Bash. Whether you want to learn to program from scratch, understand a course, write cleaner code, or pass an exam, I adapt to your goals.

My classes are designed to be interactive: we ask questions, we make mistakes, and we progress! I want you to leave having learned something new.

About Me

My name is Patrick, I am 22 years old, and I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Computer Science at EPFL, after having successfully completed a bachelor's degree in Computer Science there. I am fluent in French and English.

Being passionate about mathematics, computer science, and generally anything related to logic, I like to understand how things work. These are subjects that most people dislike, but for a single reason: they are often poorly taught, because everyone has a different way of learning, and that's where I can help.

I have been a student assistant at EPFL for three years now, where I help Bachelor's students demystify the complex concepts they are taught.

My goal: to transform “I don't understand” into “Ah, but actually, it makes sense!”

Teaching is a passion of mine, and if it can be made clearer and more effective, while adding a touch of fun, I'm all for it!

Understand maths for primary students.

Master student at EPFL, I would be happy to help you (you or your child) for the subjects where you have difficulties! At university, I have been an assistant in Chemistry for the first years of EPFL for a few years as well as for a course linking mathematics and electronics, called Signals and Systems. So I am used to teaching and explaining concepts to students with difficulties. I also give private lessons to students passing the Swiss maturity or the French baccalaureate. Master's student in physics at EPFL.

The courses are aimed in particular at university students, but also at secondary school students. For those attending EPFL, I can give classes in person. Otherwise, I am also available for online courses. The topics and course delivery are agreed with the students according to their specific needs. They can include both theoretical explanations and the carrying out of practical exercises.

From my own experience, I have found that everyone can understand the most complex concepts, you just need to adopt the right approach and teaching method, which varies from person to person. As it is not always possible to make this important distinction in general courses, my intention is to provide those who need it with help in catching up with the program by filling in gaps and/or doubts. Mathematics and physics form the basis of many scientific fields of study, but they can sometimes seem abstract or difficult to grasp on your own. In my courses, I guide students to help them understand the concepts in depth, progress at their own pace, and gain confidence.

Students can send me the topic of the lesson or their specific questions in advance, so that I can prepare a suitable and effective session.

I am also bilingual in Italian. Although it is not my native language, I particularly enjoy teaching it and helping beginners acquire a solid foundation. My Italian lessons are conversation-based, with supplementary grammar and conjugation exercises to ensure natural and enjoyable progress.

I mainly teach remotely, which allows for great flexibility and personalized support, wherever you are.

As a student myself, I always share the same experiences and stressful phases as my students (difficult lessons to understand, exams, assignments, etc.), and I find this to be a major asset in one-on-one tutoring. It's a close connection that most qualified teachers overlook, which prevents them from understanding the student's difficulties.

I am currently in my second year at EPFL and passed my first year on my first attempt. In addition to good results at the pre-university level, I continue to excel in my studies (5.25/6 average) and am developing rigor, composure under stress, excellent organizational skills, and above all, a demanding work ethic.
In terms of my career path, I am considering a Master's degree in Robotics at EPFL as well, because it is a subject that I am passionate about.

To best teach a student struggling with a scientific subject, I believe it's crucial to vary the methods and terminology used. A perspective different from that of a high school/college (or even middle school) teacher can shed light on a topic sometimes perceived as "complicated".
That is why I try to be as close as possible to the student, to understand their interests, in order to give simplified, visual, schematic explanations that are easily understood by the student, and that remain a clear reference.

To make the most of our time with the student, I try to prepare each lesson meticulously. To do this, I will ask the student about their needs for the next lesson (if they have specific requirements, for example, a test in class or a lesson they didn't understand), or I will prepare a personalized learning plan as best I can.
