I'm a music teacher with a degree in music education from the Universidade Metropolitana de Santos (São Paulo/Brazil), a degree in Classical Guitar from the Conservatório de Tatuí (SP/Brazil) and a specialization in historical instruments from the Escola de Música do Estado de São Paulo (Brazil)
I was music teacher during 3 years at Barueri City Council (São Paulo/Brazil) before I started a master's degree in Renaissance Lute at ESMAE (Porto).
I have some Classical and acoustic guitar students and I also teach music in Porto's Council preschools.

The lessons will be planned according to the student's interests, and I will provide study material with theoretical and practical exercises. The student will have the opportunity to meet know other instruments and different approaches to musical practice and technique, improving the ability to interpret and create music.

My teachers were Antonio Freire (Electric guitar), Márcia Braga and Edson Lopes (Classical guitar) and Guilherme de Camargo (Lute).
I also had masterclasses with Marcus Toscano, Geraldo Ribeiro, Daniel Morais, Guilherme Barroso, Elizabeth Kenny, Gabriel Schebor, Paul O'Dette, Julian Behr, Bor Zuljan, Joachim Held and Hopkinson Smith.

About Me

I started to play music when I was 12 years old, my first teacher was my father that thought to me how to play the eletric guitar. At the 13 I started a music school in my hometown, studying mainly Blues and Rock with Antonio Freire, and two years after I had my first rock band, but 2 years after I was invited to play in a metal band as a lead guitarist. After many concerts I realised that I wanted to study music, so I started to learn the classical guitar and when I was 19 I started the degree on Classical Guitar and two years later I met the Lute, and this instrument brought me to Portugal to study a music book from 1554 that is on the Coimbra's University, the Orphénica Lyra.

In these years I did courses with teachers in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Porto and Coimbra (Portugal), also in Venice, Basel, Bremen, Barcelona and Lugo.

Since these years, I had classes with very good teacher, and I always liked to share my knowledge and learn with my students, constructing the knowledge in every class.

Folk or classical acoustic guitar.

The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation.

For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (...).

For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (...).

Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. The objectives take into consideration the following points:

-Study of various playing techniques, chords, harmony, music of your choice, rhythm, with reading of tablature, teaching structured around the repertoire you like, technique of developing the musical ear
- Discovery of the neck, notes and basic positions of open chords

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me.

Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on.

Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor.

Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing.

No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Adapting to your tastes, we'll go from baroque to blues, from Haydn to bebop... or even Michael Jackson. Why not?

The theory of everything tends to be really scary and music theory can be too. I am very keen to make music theory easy for everyone. For some people there is only one way to tackle the unmentionable but I believe there are many different approaches and one of them will click with you. It is simply finding out what is best for each person. Once we find the key we can unlock the problems that have puzzled you for ages.

Music theory needs to be more than a requirement, it needs to be the way to really appreciate the music you are playing. Certain aspects can also lead to additional practical skills such as improvisation which can be very useful as well as very enjoyable.

I am a professional musician and have been teaching students of all ages for over 20 years. My experience as a teacher and my pursuit of self-improvement as a musician have led me to develop an effective method that I have already tested with over a hundred students.

This class is designed for conservatory students, private candidates and advanced musicians who need solid guidance in harmony, counterpoint and fugue, especially in preparation for exams and auditions.

We work on written exercises, stylistic correction and analytical understanding, with a clear method and step-by-step feedback. Particular attention is given to Renaissance and Baroque practices (modal counterpoint, species, tonal counterpoint, fugue), helping students understand why rules exist, not just how to apply them.
