About Me

Hi, I'm Matias! I'm a guitarist and drummer with over 10 years of playing experience, based in Paris. I teach electric guitar and drums, from complete beginners to students who want to keep improving, in English or Spanish (Spanish is my native language and my English is fluent, C2).

Before moving to Paris, I taught guitar and drums privately in Santiago, Chile, to more than 15 students, mostly kids and teenagers of all levels, starting from zero. I have also adapted my method and pace to teach children with disabilities, so I am comfortable being patient and finding what works for each student.

I like to build each lesson around what you want to play: a clear plan you can follow week by week, mixing technique with songs you love. I was also part of the first house band of School of Rock in Chile, so I know how much students grow when they play with others and on stage.

If you have a goal in mind, like a first song, joining a band or preparing for an audition, let's talk!

Hello,

I like to transmit and exchange with my students.
Seeing them understand and progressing is essential and very rewarding for me.

My lessons are based on an academic method focused on learning music theory and instrumental practice.
I bring a specific method adapted to the profiles of my students (age, availability, tastes, motivation, "anti-music theory").
I try to make my students independent, help them develop their listening skills, their sense of rhythm and transmit to them an efficient working method.

All styles, all levels: pop, rock, funk, jazz, blues, soul, reggae, latin

Having graduated with a master's degree in musicology, I am currently pursuing my higher education at the conservatory in the scholarly disciplines of composition, analysis, writing, musical arrangement, and Jazz.
I have been playing guitar for many, many years now, as well as piano and flute.

I have been teaching guitar, piano, flute and musical education for several years now to children, teenagers and adults.
I also have a very good level in music theory, writing (jazz and classical), harmony as well as musical composition.
My classes are based on listening as well as the development of the musical ear and musical creativity. I try to transmit my passion for music by making my students discover very varied horizons, from jazz to classical music, including current music and so-called traditional music.
I also seek to develop autonomy in my students, an essential quality in order to flourish both musically and in everyday life. This is why I insist on the knowledge of the instrument and the development of creativity through the teaching of applied music theory and the development of the ear.

My course is aimed at both beginners and people of an intermediate or advanced level who would like to improve their skills.
If you are looking for a teacher who is both pedagogical and attentive, do not hesitate to contact me.

Folk or classical acoustic guitar.

The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation.

For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (...).

For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (...).

Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. The objectives take into consideration the following points:

-Study of various playing techniques, chords, harmony, music of your choice, rhythm, with reading of tablature, teaching structured around the repertoire you like, technique of developing the musical ear
- Discovery of the neck, notes and basic positions of open chords
- Left / right hand coordination and rhythm exercises for the right hand
- Learning of different pieces of your choice
- Left hand control exercises, speed and precision
- Learning arpeggios
- Work around muscle memory
- Learning improvisation, musical play with others
- Ear training: use your ears to find chords, melodies, sounds and techniques used
-Spend a pleasant moment of exchange, without unnecessary institutional pressure, while obtaining concrete results
-Understand and discover the many facets of an exciting and user-friendly instrument
- Benefit from personalized advice on your posture and certain pitfalls to avoid when starting alone
-Adjust and clarify your self-taught knowledge
- Learn tablatures / tabs & in English.

Note :
- Possibility to use the guitar available on site, during the test phase.
- As our teacher is also a singing teacher, it is possible to combine the two disciplines: guitar + vocal instrument, and to work on synchronization, style and accuracy.
- Possibility of offering this course (birthday, party, Christmas, event ...) to the person of your choice.

THE TEACHER :
Trained in Grande Ecole post-preparatory classes & Ivy League university in the United States, our teacher has specialized and has worked for more than 15 years, in Europe and North America, in the field, in renowned international public and private establishments, with careful pedagogy and methodology as the watchwords.

PLACES :
- Locations: Geneva-Lausanne-Friborg-Neuchâtel-Montreux-Bâle-Sion-Sierre-Morges-Bienne. But currently, only by videoconference in accordance with national recommendations on Covid. These sessions also seem to be perfectly unanimous since they have the advantages of direct (example: quality of the interaction), without its disadvantages (ex: loss of travel time), with additional advantages (ex: of notes on the chat, which can be reread afterwards). In this context, these videoconference sessions for which you have requested me, seem to arouse a certain enthusiasm (and a certain enthusiasm). At your request, I therefore continue to offer them.

Hello, welcome to my ad!

My name is Matéo and I am 26 years old. I have been playing guitar for 9 years and teaching it for 5 years. After studying at the conservatory and music school, I obtained my Diploma of Musical Studies (DEM) specializing in jazz guitar. Over the years, I have been able to accompany around forty students, both in private lessons, group lessons and at the conservatory where I teach today.

OPTION1) The course I offer is aimed at beginner to intermediate level guitarists, of all ages (children too!), in acoustic and electric guitar.
My goal is to give you the essential basics of the instrument (body position, technique, chords) as well as an understanding of fundamental musical concepts (rhythm, ear, reading tablature and/or music theory) which will be very useful to you as a musician.
We will base our learning as quickly as possible on real pieces of music, if possible suggested by the student because I think that learning by playing the music you like is the most motivating method.
As a teacher, I have always adapted as best I could to each profile to make them learn in the way that suited them best, make them play the music they like, help them with their difficulties and push them to surpass themselves in their abilities.
Finally, I always make sure that the lessons take place in a calm and pleasant atmosphere so that the student progresses at their own pace and learns while having fun.

OPTION 2) This course is for intermediate to advanced guitarists (and musicians in general) who want to acquire a deeper understanding of music theory. What we can cover, depending on your needs: analysis, harmony, composition, transcription, improvisation, music theory, ...

Lessons can take place at my home, in the 15th arrondissement, or at the student's home where I can travel (for an extra) within a reasonable radius.

Declared via CESU (Universal Employment Service Check) or self-employed invoice.

As a passionate, self-taught drummer, I offer drum lessons focused on practice, rhythmic understanding, and the joy of playing. We'll work on the fundamentals (tempo, coordination, independence), develop grooves, accompany songs, and provide personalized advice tailored to your musical style (rock, funk, hip-hop, etc.).

Classes for children, teenagers and adults.
I can travel to students' homes who have a drum kit or to music studios in Paris.

Let's play!

Without conservatory or other diploma(s), I developed a passion and an ear for music from a very young age.
Being self-taught allowed me to very quickly develop a curiosity for music in general, to play different instruments and to create several music groups, concerts, studio recordings, etc.

This drum course is for beginners of all ages, with or without prior musical experience.
The goal is clear: to lay solid foundations while having fun from the start.

The course is based on a constant balance between technique and musical performance. Technical exercises are always directly linked to specific pieces and grooves, in order to avoid a heavy or discouraging theoretical approach.

Particular attention is paid to the relationship between the body and the instrument:
good posture on the stool, relaxation, hand and finger position, coordination, balance and center of gravity.

These elements are essential for making effective progress, avoiding unnecessary tension, and developing a natural relationship with the drums.

Finally, I am primarily here for the student.
If the student has a clear idea of the direction in which they wish to go, I will be there to accompany them and help them achieve it.

I am not trying to impose a rigid teaching method: I adapt to the needs, pace and objectives of each individual.

What I do insist on, however, are the essential basics: good posture, the elimination of unnecessary tension in the body and a healthy way of playing.

For the rest, teaching is always built with the student, in the spirit of a pedagogy that has personally worked very well for me and that I now pass on with conviction.

This course is for those who want to learn guitar, piano, and music and harmony theory.
I started playing music at age six and was lucky enough to find a teacher who truly understood how to instill confidence in me. Beyond music theory, a very academic approach that clearly discourages further exploration, he had me playing, learning directly through my fingers and ears the music I loved. Without him, I surely would have given up. Like him, I now want to share the joy of playing, learning all kinds of pieces, and perhaps even composing my own.
