About Me
I teach German because language opens doors to people. Through language, we share who we are: our feelings, our passions, the structure of our thinking. What's the point of learning a language if you don't speak it? That's why conversation is paramount in my lessons. Grammar is important for accuracy, but never the end in itself.

I started out as a student volunteer teaching German to refugees, then took on substitute teaching positions, and eventually taught English to monks in India and German in Iran. Ultimately, I returned to my original profession as an art historian and worked in communications and art sales for international galleries. But after seven years in the world of contemporary art, I experienced burnout. The work had lost its meaning.

So I made my decision: I became a certified German teacher and telc examiner and dedicated myself to teaching. Over 3,000 hours later, I have worked with students of all levels, from absolute beginners to those who want to refine their C2 level. Teaching allows me to immerse myself deeply in the German language and simultaneously enriches my own creative work as an internationally recognized art critic and writer.
