Most wonderful and enthusiastic French tutor anyone could wish for. My son made more progress in 5 sessions than over the course of the term. Highly recommended

Patricia,Battersea/Chelsea

...............................

We were looking for a sympathetic, engaging tutor for our boy, just starting at GCSE level, to help him properly grasp the basics and develop his confidence. Nicolas has been a fantastic tutor, professional, well-organised, positive and always prepared to do that little bit extra. His bright and welcoming manner means that our boy warmed to him immediately, and already has a much more positive attitude towards French. Nicolas is very well-organised, with plenty of work material, a clear plan for developing the student`s knowledge and ability and a seriousness of purpose, while the lessons are conducted with an enthusiasm and positivity that is quite infectious. Highly recommended.

Jeremy, Ealing London.

I am currently studying my French degree and needed some help for my 2nd year core language and oral exams in which I struggled very much. I did very badly (20%) in my core language and similarly in the oral exam. I had around 1-2 weeks of sessions with Nicolas and I could not have asked for more. We did a few past papers. And even though we did not know what was likely to come up in the exam, he was very good at helping me pinpoint the important information in a passage and how to respond to the questions. Similarly with the oral part, he kept me on my toes by always speaking to me in French at the beginning of the sessions and throughout which was very helpful and providing me with core info of which I needed to speak about in the oral. As a result I received 30-40% more in my retakes. He is a very friendly man with lots of energy and wants to make sure you can be the best you can be. Thank you Nicolas.

Nicolas is an excellent tutor. He helped my son with preparation to the Westminster challenge exam for 5 months. My son really enjoyed the lessons. Nicolas is a very responsible tutor who does his best to organize interesting lessons. My son got A at Westminster challenge exam.

Nicolas has been our son`s French tutor for the last 9 months.We were looking for a tutor who could focus on Common Entrance 13+ exam preparation, working on speaking, grammar and writing . I strongly recommend him as a teacher. He prepares his lessons, and teaches with great enthusiam. My son, who attended Wetherby School in London,did not like and was not good at French at school and from the moment Nicolas started to teach him his view and understanding of French changed. He is now on top of his class and loves french and this is all thanks to Nicolas. Regards .

"I highly recommend Nicolas as a tutor.He has tutored me now for around a year and I am very pleased with my progress.He is very organised and is always willing to provide extra help if needed.Furthermore,Nicolas has a variety of different resources which can be very helpful.I addition,he is very punctual and reliable.Throughout the year,Nicolas has helped me improve my speaking skills and grammar.One of his best qualities is that he is always willing to adapt to the needs of his students and that he is very flexible in his teaching style."

...........................................

I would like to recommend Nicolas as a French tutor for your organisation or family. Nicolas worked with us in London three days per week, as a French tutor. (We moved to the U.S. when the employment ended.) Nicolas took full responsibility for our two boys for three days per week. His main focus was on tutoring and educating the boys in French. He spoke only French to them, allowing the boys to be fully immersed in the language. The activities allowed them to develop their French (both boys fully comprehend French conversation now and can speak), . Nicolas’s energizing and interactive techniques were fun for the boys, and they engaged in the language quickly. The boys loved their time with Nicolas . His tutoring techniques are excellent for young children.. Nicolas is dependable, caring, and trustworthy. I would fully recommend him as a French tutor for your children.

Marsha London Kensington

...........................

I have been fortunate enough to have Nicolas as my French tutor. Having only 2 months to learn French before moving to Paris, Nicolas planned the course really well and I came out of it feeling ready to face the real French people. Nicolas is organized and very pleasant to be around. He is so helpful even if it is something, which is not related to the lesson. Nicolas adapted the lesson to my needs and plans the lessons every time beforehand. The material he uses to teach is quality and his approach in teaching is very easy to understand. I would highly recommend Nicolas to tutor French at any level. Kind regards.

For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above.

You might wonder why I teach both languages. Well, I am bilingual, with American and Swiss/French roots, and I currently reside in Ireland. This unique blend of experiences equips me with a strong and relevant teaching approach. I possess an intimate understanding of both cultures, enabling me to tailor my classes to the specific needs of my students.

My teaching journey began during my time studying social work in French-speaking Switzerland. I started offering private French and English lessons to supplement my income, and I quickly discovered my passion for it. Even after graduating and embarking on a full-time career, I couldn't bear to give up this rewarding activity. I cherished the opportunity to connect with diverse individuals and assist them in achieving their language goals.

In my teaching methodology, interactivity takes center stage. I employ a variety of engaging learning tools, including photos, newspaper articles, music, videos, and more. My approach is highly adaptable, with a focus on addressing each student's unique priorities. Some seek to refine their pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary, while others require assistance with presentations or speeches for school or work. Some simply aspire to acquire a new language to enrich their general knowledge. I also specialize in teaching younger children, a testament to my educational background and experience.

What you will gain from my courses extends beyond impeccable pronunciation and enhanced vocabulary and grammar. You'll also acquire a profound understanding of the culture associated with each language. When speaking a language, it's essential to appreciate the lifestyle, traditions, and heritage of the nations where it thrives. French and English are spoken as primary languages in numerous countries worldwide, each with its own unique accent and cultural nuances. The learning process is limitless!

In addition to my language instruction, I'm a genealogist and host spiritual (non-religious) seminars in the beautiful West of Ireland. My passion for vegetarian and vegan cuisine adds a flavorful dimension to my life. Furthermore, I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and have operated a private "Before & Afterschool" facility along with Summer Camps catering to children aged 4 to 12 for many years.

I am genuinely excited about the prospect of meeting and working with you!

I am a trained French teacher with a degree in linguistics. I have been teaching since 2012 and I support candidates in improving their French and preparing for official exams.

The preparation is fully tailored to your level, the date of your exam and the skills you need to strengthen.

We are working on the different challenges:
- listening comprehension;
- understanding of written texts;
- written production;
- oral production.

The goal is not only to improve your French, but also to understand what examiners expect and to learn how to respond effectively to exam instructions.

Depending on your needs, we can work on methodology, organization of ideas, argumentation, grammar, vocabulary, time management and correction of written or oral productions.

Exercises and practice topics may be offered between lessons to track your progress and identify areas that require more work.

As the exam approaches, we can also carry out simulations under conditions close to the real test, particularly for oral production.

Before we begin, simply tell me the diploma and level you are preparing for, the scheduled date of the exam, and the difficulties you wish to work on as a priority.

I offer you a new learning experience.

Academic success, even at the university level, is determined by the ability to understand and write different types of texts. I offer courses that will allow you to overcome the difficulties you encounter in reading or writing by giving you the text-writing toolkit that school, unfortunately, doesn't provide. I myself had to build this toolkit over the years at university, and I will gladly share it with you so that you can succeed.

Here are the different points that my offer covers:

READING
Guided reading
Effective reading strategies
Text theory (structure, function, typology...)
General knowledge
Communication Theory

PRODUCTION
Reformulation
Summary
Reading log
Accurate
Text analysis
Characterization
Interpretation
Text explanation
Text commentary
Dissertation Essay
Comment
Argumentation

You can take a full course with regular sessions or one-off courses to do specific work such as writing a reading summary.

Lessons can be taken individually or in groups. The methods are flexible to adapt to each individual case.

What matters to me in particular:

motivate my student and give him a learning pace;
encourage their creativity;
to awaken his curiosity;
to forge a friendship with the texts

During this first lesson, you can get a solid idea of my teaching style. I look forward to meeting you.
