My name is Harley and I would love to be your tutor. At home in
Melbourne, Australia, I work as a high school English and Drama teacher. As well as this, I have done tutoring for primary and secondary students as well as adults for the last nine years.

In my spare time, I make theatre shows and do a lot of creative writing. Last year, I wrote a novel, which I published a few weeks ago. I have also written quite a few plays and films. While I have a strong passion for poetry and artistic uses of language, I am also highly skilled at essay technique and formal writing conventions. My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
3. The "Montreal Method": Having worked for two and a half years in Quebec, I use a North American pedagogy that is very focused on encouragement, clear structure and student autonomy.
4. Summary & Objectives: We end each session with a recap of the key points so that the student knows exactly what to revise.
