Private Flute and Music lessons in English or in French
From 75 C$ /h
Hello everyone!
My name’s Gareth, I’m a young music teacher from Ireland specialising in the flute. I have recently moved to Cologne and am delighted to begin welcoming new students to my private teaching studio!
I obtained my Bachelor of Music from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in the UK, graduating in 2015. This included a diploma in woodwind instrumental teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). I then moved to Paris to continue my musical studies at the Ѐcole Normale de Musique de Paris on the Cycle de Perfectionnement. I spent 3 years there studying with the principal flute players of both the Opera de Paris and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, whilst also taking advanced classes in music pedagogy.
I began teaching flute, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon and oboe in Northern Ireland at the Lisburn School of Music, and then continued teaching at the junior conservatoire of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. In Paris, I worked for the Mairie de Paris as both a flute/woodwind and choir instructor, in both primary and high schools. I have consistently taught private students throughout all this, ranging from ages 4-80 and beginners through to advanced players.
My teaching style is relaxed in nature, however structured and goal orientated. I enjoy working with my students to set short term targets along with long term goals, and together work out a strategy and plan to achieve these aims, with the overall aim being enjoyment and love for making music. I love working with children as well as with adult learners, at all levels from total beginners to advanced players.
I teach currently from my new home teaching studio in Weidenpesch, Cologne. I have several slots to teach at the students home, however please contact me on here to arrange a time that suits. Travelling to the students home will include a travel charge unfortunately!
I speak fluent English and French and am offering lessons in both languages!
I hope to hear from you all soon,
Gareth

About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Gareth, I'm 29 years old and I come from Belfast, Ireland. I have been a flute and music teacher for over 10 years, and have recently opened a brand new Private Music Studio here in Cologne, Germany.
Having obtained a Bachelor of Music from the Royal Welsh College of Music and then a postgraduate diploma from the École Normale de Musique de Paris, I have since worked as an orchestral, solo and chamber musician across Europe.
As a teacher, I currently hold a position with the G.F Handel Music Academy (in partnership with St George's British International School) here in Cologne, Germany. I specialise in flute and music theory, however I also offer lessons in other woodwind instruments.
My teaching philosophy is simple: progress via enjoyment. This is at the heart of all my teaching; that enjoying the process of learning leads to better progress. I see my primary role as a teacher to try and pass on the passion I have not only for music, but for the learning process and the benefits it can bring us across our lives.
Together we’ll set short term targets and long term goals, and achieving these will not only bring musical benefits, but also developments in creativity, work ethic, confidence and self-esteem. Learning a musical instrument can pay dividends for decades to come!
All my lessons are available in-person or online, and in English or French.
I also proudly have a 100% pass record with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams and am happy to prepare students for these exams, if they wish!
I can't wait to hear from you!
