About Me

I’m from the United States and have lived in the Netherlands for 3 years. I earned a Bachelors of Arts in English and History from UNC Chapel Hill, which is ranked as one of the best public universities in the US. I then earned a Masters of Teaching from UNC in 2010. After graduating, I worked at a non profit organization and then began teaching English after earning my TEFL certification.

Since 2015, I’ve taught over 4,000 private lessons to students from all over the world. I take pride in my skills as a supportive, responsive, and empathetic teacher. I offer customized lessons for each student and strive to focus on topics they are interested in. My specialties are General English, Test Preparation, Business English, and writing/proofreading.

I also worked as a writing coach and proofreader for two British universities, where I guided students on how to improve their writing, use critical analysis, and coached skills like grammar, punctuation, and writing flow to help them succeed in their studies. To the uninitiated, a grammar book seems to be written in another language because the meaning of the words is incomprehensible. In a down-to-earth way, I'll translate the grammar into familiar words. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning while having a positive mindset.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ...
