I've been an educator for over 20 years and have a Master's degree in Specific Learning Differences. I specialize in working with students with dyslexia and/or ADHD in literacy and math and am Orton-Gillingham trained. I've taught in public and private schools in the US, Singapore, and Bali, and I have been a private tutor for more than 10 years. My goal is to help kids build competence and confidence in foundational skills through individualized instruction that fits their evolving needs. My greatest passion is helping students achieve a growth mindset through building foundational skills in Literacy and Math. When skills improve, confidence is gained and academic achievement is a reality. I was a Biology teacher when my son was diagnosed with dyslexia in 2010. His struggle inspired me to learn everything I could about the neurobiology of reading challenges and to complete a Master's degree in Specific Learning Differences with specialization in dyslexia education. I then became certified as an Orton-Gillingham language coach and tutor and have learned dozens of research-based methods of teaching Literacy and Math. I have had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students in schools and through private tutoring and look forward to helping your child overcome their own academic challenges.

Learn to READ with Mr. Andrew!

Level 1 is for students with little or no English experience. My students learn naturally through stories, songs and poetry. In Level 1, I teach the ABCs, with emphasis on the sounds of the letters, as well as some basic sight words.

Classes are daily (Monday to Friday) and each class is 40 minutes long. I wrote the stories and poems myself to teach my own kids to read and have been using them to help hundreds of other students in these group classes for over five years.

Learning with dyslexia, ADHD, or any other learning difficulty can be frustrating. Especially when you are expected to study in the same way as everyone else, despite your brain just working differently. I know this from personal experience.

I am a law student with dyslexia and ADHD, and over the years I have developed practical strategies that have helped me study, stay organised, and succeed academically. I now want to share those tools with children, teenagers and adults who may be facing similar challenges.

For younger students, I can provide homework and study support, helping them understand how they learn best and how to use practical tools such as mind maps, flashcards, digital resources, structured study sessions and focus techniques. If they already have a diagnosis, I can also help them understand the accommodations and learning tools available to them at school and encourage them to become more confident in communicating their needs.

Just as importantly, I understand the frustration that can come from teachers, classmates or others misunderstanding dyslexia, ADHD as well as other learning difficulties. My aim is to create a supportive, judgement-free environment where students can ask questions, experiment with different study methods and build confidence in their abilities.

My sessions are also suitable for adults who were diagnosed later in life, or who never had the opportunity to learn strategies for managing dyslexia or ADHD. Together, we can work on organisation, studying, reading, writing, planning and finding practical systems that fit your everyday life.
