GCSE English Language and Literature Preparation - plus - general Primary English Language sessions
From 38.39 C$ /h
I specialise in tutoring English Language and English Literature at GCSE level, to support my pupils in achieving their target grade - and more often than not - enabling them to surpass their expectations. Having said that, I have experience in primary classroom settings, so I am able to tutor children of a primary age - plus - older teenagers who are re-sitting their English Language and Literature exams. My approach to learning is simple: giving my pupils as much autonomy over their learning as possible. Learning is not a 'one-size-fits-all', so I always tailor my lessons to the individual - ensuring their needs are being met. As someone who used to be anxious during examinations, my approach to teaching is that of a gentle one. My aspiration is that my students get excited for our sessions; learning should be enjoyable! Mistakes are inevitable and I always tell my current pupils: 'I like it when you make mistakes, because it means I get to teach you something!' :)

About Me
Hello there! My name is Isobel and I am a recent graduate of Education: Primary and Early Years.
My fascination for the English language stemmed throughout my years at school, but was cemented when I took it up as an A-Level.
I encourage autonomy over ones learning. Developing a deeper understanding of the subject and having a sense of excitement when attending our sessions is the main goal. Learning should be enjoyable! There is no one size-fits-all when it comes to learning. I know how stressful exams can be - believe me when I say I have been in your shoes! That is why I take a calm and gentle approach to tutoring; my goal is that you feel comfortable and to not feel pressured to get it right every time. Mistakes are inevitable - it's totally okay to make them and it means I get to teach you something! :)
I find that when students are reminded of their achievements, their engagement sky-rockets and it creates a truly positive learning environment.

Experience / Qualifications
Due to the nature of my course, I have a wide and varied experience in different educational settings; both in the UK and internationally. I currently work as an Online Tutor with MyTutor and I have 12 successful sessions under my belt - all of which are recurring sessions, so I am able to see the progress and attainment of my pupils.
Worked as an au pair in Spain for three months - my primary role being teaching English as a second language to a little girl I was looking after.
Volunteered in Ghana (Tamale) for 3 months alongside Ghanaian volunteers, delivering sexual health sessions to young people in rural communities.
Travelled to Zambia for three weeks as part of a university trip; our time spent visiting three different types of schools (community, government and private). Here, we worked to deliver lessons in both English and Mathematics, plus, we were able to learn about their education system, which was a fabulous experience!
