*"Where are you from?... no, but where are you actually from?"*
I have lived my entire life (28 years!) in the United States. I lived in the rural midwestern American state of Wisconsin until age 13. I then I lived and went to some middle school and graduated high school in the large United States cities of Chicago, Illinois and San Francisco, California.
I come from a bilingual home and my parents speak with an accent, but my American English accent is perfect, standard, and fluid.
I am happy to work together with you to sound more American, which is extremely useful for speaking skills for English learners all over the world.
We will cover: accent, pacing, vocabulary, delivery, all to sound more confident and fluent. All techniques will be rooted in evidence from linguistics and communication studies so that YOU can sound like a fluent and more approachable speaker in whatever settings you use English. It's a science as much as it is an Art!
I have worked in Journalism, Speech Language Pathology, Tourism, and Customer Service for in high academic settings like Museums, or casual every day places like Stores. I am currently in the process of achieving a TEFL level 5 diploma.
I have one semester left in a degree in Spanish and Chinese at San Francisco State University, and I plan on moving abroad for Graduate School! I have taken graduate classes in Chinese and Spanish. I speak 8 languages fluently and know personally what it takes to make your accent in a foreign language shine for people to really make you seem fluid and competent.
I am friendly, patient, accommodating, open minded, professional and know that EVERY student has their own unique journey in language learning.
