My name is Julia and I am a qualified TEFL teacher (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) with a Master's degree in English linguistics. I offer English courses for all levels.
My background in linguistics provides me with a thorough knowledge of English grammar and I therefore have an understanding of the problems students face when learning English. Having lived and worked in the United States, I know what it is like to be immersed in an English speaking environment, therefore can help my students improve their fluency as well as develop the perfect accent! I can also give tailor made classes to working professionals, PhD students, who would like to focus on their academic English (EAP=English for Academic Purposes), essay writing and presentations skills.
After the very first meeting, I try my best to adopt the lessons to the needs and goals of my students. I don’t believe anyone can be a ‘bad language learner’, rather that different techniques might work for each of us. My goal is to help students discover what works for them. For those who are afraid of grammar and get confused easily, I'll give some easy tools so you can improve effortlessly. If being shy stops you from speaking, do not worry, as by the end of our lessons you will gain the confidence needed.
Generally, I only use English during classes, but for lower levels I can provide explanations also in Hungarian, in German or in French.
