Experience / Qualifications
I became inspired to be a Primary School Teacher when one particular teacher stood out to me because he made learning fun and supported every child individually. This was done by using multi-media teaching and ensuring everyone could achieve their full potential. I believe primary school teaching is essential as it influences a child's development from a young age, giving them knowledge, understanding and confidence to be able to move forward and advance in life.
Knowing the direction I wanted to take was children's education, I chose to expand my knowledge by completing a 13 week Preparing for Teaching voluntary enrichment course at college. I acquired skills and knowledge, which are important for teaching the National Curriculum. I have experienced this during my education as well as work experience. I discovered how teachers can adapt their tone of voice and sophistication within their speech depending on the children’s age. I learnt more about the National Curriculum from helping a teacher do lesson plans. This helped me learn how to write objectives and clearly showcase these within the classroom. My placement at Ings Primary involved working with students 6-9 years old learning daily routines and the profession. Through shadowing many staff members, observing teaching techniques and the ways in which they support different individuals. From this I discovered there were many challenges to tackle - such as having different levels of understanding meaning certain children may need more guidance. Since going to university I have completed two placements in schools. These experiences have helped me a lot, to develop my understanding. i Have learnt a lot about been in the classroom, adapting and teaching practices.
