Having dedicated years of learning to the world of geography, I feel that being able to share my experience will ensure that my passion and knowledge within the subject does not go to waste and is used to inspire people. Throughout my years in education, I have worked amongst my peers and students younger than myself in different capacities, all of which have motivated me to share my geographical knowledge

About Me
I am a highly motivated and reliable individual whom is outgoing, creative and a team player who is able to tackle a challenge and achieve high standards in my targets. I am currently in my third year of my BA Geography degree at the University of Birmingham, with particular interests in regeneration and geographies of childhood and education. In my degree, I have been able to display my motivation and creativity within my coursework and essays and will continue to do so in my dissertation which is based around female education. Whilst geography is where I am comfortable, I am looking to push myself out of my comfort zone and experience new areas of the subject which I feel teaching would allow me to do.

Experience / Qualifications
Tutor with MyTutor
During my sixth form studies, I had the opportunity to mentor several year 7 students which I found extremely valuable and rewarding, as I was able to use my own experiences to encourage and support them on their journey through secondary school. Further engaging with young people, I a fully trained RGS Geography Ambassador. This training has allowed me to run fun and interactive sessions with school pupils as well as gaining presentation, organisational and interpersonal skills that I can transfer into the classroom, creating an enthusiasm for geography. My most recent experience at a secondary school-Grays Convent High School, where I was assisting and observing lessons for a day (curtailed by a second lockdown), gave me a useful insight into teaching, as I was able to learn about lesson planning, behavioural management and student-teacher engagement and witness the challenges and benefits that this entails. Being able to teach a small part of a lesson during this day, highlighted the importance of learner engagement and allowed me to explore the ways in which to encourage active learning within the classroom.
