Dear Parent,
Every time your child reads a text, 50 to 70 percent of the words he or she encounters are Sight words. Reading can become slow and discouraging without knowledge of high-frequency sight words.
These words are the most common words that are presented frequently in reading material. Children need extra practice learning these words, many of which can't be represented by simple pictures. Often, these sight words do not follow regular spelling rules and cannot be "sounded out". learning to immediately recognize these words "at sight" is a critical skill for fluent reading.
Sight words are common words that kids recognize instantly without sounding them out.
Recognizing words by sight helps kids become faster, more fluent readers.
Sight word acquisition is an important building block in the construction of a child’s ability to read.
Sight words often do not sound as their spelling might suggest. The only way a student can read these words is to memorize them creating the ability to recognize them by sight.
This course presents and then reinforces each word in a way that promotes understanding and retention. It offers lots of practice and interaction with games and entertaining activities provide an extra challenge. Children will find memorizing these words both simple and fun.
