About Me

I focus is on Classical and Early music, but I also perform and teach other types of music like jazz, folklore, and free improvised music among others. I enjoy collaborating with professionals from other performing arts (movement, storytelling...) and I like to include them in my work.

Teaching music is something that inspires me, not only something I do as a job. For me, helping someone discover their voice and musicality is one of the most fulfilling activities.

Education

-Bachelor in recorder with Erik Bosgraaf (Conservatorium van Amsterdam)
-Master in voice with Xenia Meijer (current study in Conservatorium van Amsterdam)
-Masterclasses with teachers like Michael Schneider, David Antich, Rebecca Steward, Malik Mezzadri, Harmen Fraanje, Margreet Honig, Adrián van der Spoel and more.

Osian
Cello, singing and theory lessons from bilingual Welsh and English speaker
Hi my name is Osian and I’m a cellist from South Wales. I’ve taught children of many ages and standards and I really feel privileged to be a part of someone’s musical and personal development. Music lessons can be a way of reaching the concert platform or it could be a way of expressing yourself and being creative, wether it’s a career path or not. I grew up playing and singing where my first priority was to fall in love with music and learn to perform it to the best standard that I could do and that’s what I’d like to encourage my students to aim for too. I’m a BMus Hons Scholar from The Royal Academy of Music and I’m not studying at a masters lever at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Daan
Piano lessons in Amsterdam at home by an experienced piano teacher - also possible for lessons in music production
Hey! My name is Daan and I am a keyboard player, producer and songwriter and I am happy to teach piano at your home in Amsterdam. I graduated from the Conservatory of Amsterdam pop department and am also very active in bands (as a keyboardist, singer, guitarist, bassist and drummer) and as a producer/songwriter in various genres. As a teacher, I am mainly concerned with what the student wants to achieve and what can be gotten out of the student. Do you want to learn that one new song by Billie Eilish, or an advanced piece by Stevie Wonder; I can always help you. The great thing about music is that you can learn and perform it at all kinds of levels. My job is to find the right level for the right student, so that progress can be made at the same time as there is fun during the lessons. In addition, I find it important that my students not only play the piano, but also understand the music and build up a knowledge of the music theory behind the pieces. This has helped me a lot to quickly make big steps as a musician. You can also contact me if you write songs yourself and maybe even produce them that you want to take to a higher level. I can give you all kinds of tips to get the best out of your own compositions through my experience as a songwriter/producer. I hope to see you soon!

Flute lessons for all ages & levels!
Hi there! Have you always wanted to learn the flute or do you feel like picking up this beautiful instrument again after a break? As a teacher with more than 6 years of experience, I offer private lessons for all ages and all levels. I learned my teaching skills from famous flute teachers of our time. I have experience teaching both children and adults and I think it is essential that we both have fun while learning something as wonderful as playing music! Lessons are adapted to your needs and we will develop your musicality and technical skills together. In addition to Classical music, we can also work on other music styles if necessary. For example, I am familiar with Brazilian folk music, Baroque music, Modern Music and Jazz. It is also possible to request academic support with the instrument, music theory or history. Lessons can be given in English and Dutch. If you don't have an instrument of your own yet, I can give some suggestions on where and how to find/rent one - don't hesitate to contact me if you're interested. I hope to hear from you soon! Iara

I'm experienced in writing both instrumental and electronic music, as well as performance art, live electronics and multidisciplinary projects. Songwriting and Composition!
So many great songs in the world... only yours is missing! Songwriting is a beautiful craft, you can create music that is completely unique to you, your stories and imagination. A great quote from Jacob Collier:"when you are writing music, imagine music that you would like to exist, that you would like to listen to." I will help you to realise and figure out what it is you're hearing in your head, provide you with tools and tricks to use and help you arrive to a mindset which welcomes creative processes and make artistic decisions more easily. Both singer-songwriters and instrumental composers are welcome! I'm a songwriter and composer for a few years now, I've encountered many different phases and struggles and have learned to overcome them with techniques and with intuition.

Flavia
Cello lessons in Dutch, Spanish or English (live or online)
Do you want to work on classical repertoire? Do you want to learn songs from around the world or invent your own? do you want to play happy birthday to your best friend with a Cello? Let's explore together this beautiful instrument with pieces that you like, finding different ways to play one thing, becoming actors on the stage of music... Let's create games to develop creativity and technique, those that will help you to personalise your way of playing. With music, we learn much more than just playing pieces. I always thought about how the ancient Greeks introduced Music as an essential subject in school. Music was to heal, to entertain, to get to know yourself more. I'm just finished my studies in the University of Arts of Codarts (Rotterdam) and I can't deny I will always keep learning after finishing my degree. I'm looking forward to sharing some knowledge and to hear what you already know. What can i offer? Styles that we can work on: Classical, Folk, Jazz, Pop music. Languages that we can speak in the lesson: Dutch, English, Catalan or/and Spanish Skills that we can work on: basic techniques, jazz and folk techniques, play the cello while singing, percussion on the cello. How do I work? Each class will be individually prepared, in order to have the student goals in mind. In our first lesson we can get to know each other and then we will figure out what do you want and how can I help you. For BEGINNERS I teach the bow, finger positions and other basics with easy songs (with kids I add games to make it more entreating). Such as relating painting with playing, dancing with playing or literature with playing. For AVERAGE LEVEL we explore, with already some technique, how to play songs, finding a good sound and feel at ease with the instrument. Extra activities: Once a month I plan a rehearsal with pianist to work on some repertoire of cello and piano. Meetings with other students are also arranged to play duos together. It's very necessary to play with people and not get stuck in our own individual studies! Do you have doubts or need more information? Don't hesitate to write me a message!

Saxophone lessons: Enjoy becoming an all-round musician (EN, NL, HB)
Enjoy becoming an independent & all-round musician!! My aim as a Saxophone & music teacher is to give you the ability to develop skills that will make you enjoy "music-making" and love exploring all kinds of songs/musical pieces. Also, I give you tools to be able to cooperate with other musicians. The methods I use are focused around goals that I create together with each individual student (and/or parents). Our goals are based on both the student's passion & musical desires together with the technical needs to make these desires sound! (control over the instrument, reading music notation, music theory, Improvisation, composition, ear-training and more). Music is a powerful language that everyone around the world can understand, but not all can speak yet... Music-making involves Joy, curiosity, self-expression and a feeling of being a part of something bigger than yourself! Practical Info: - Normally, lessons take place at my location in Amsterdam. (call to discuss other options) - I work with both kids (from age 8/9) and adults, (total) beginners, amateurs & semiprofessionals alike - I play & teach: Soprano, Alto, Tenor & Baritone Saxophones (Flute & Bass-Clarinet for beginners as well) ** FOR PARENTS ** - Music making teaches you about how to build long-lasting dedication & successful work ethics that can be implemented throughout life, in any filed! - Music teaches you how to express thoughts & feelings and can be important for a growth of a child. - Music is a rich lifestyle, and opening a child to that world is a great gift that a parent can give to his/her child.
