Guitar Lessons for Beginner or Intermediate students
From 41.62 C$ /h
Class for beginner and intermediate guitarists. My method focuses on teaching you to play songs by ear.
This approach is vital for anyone who wants to really understand music on the same level that we understand our native language.
After getting familiar with your instrument, as well as some basics of how music works, we will jump right in by choosing one of your favorite songs to learn.
I will introduce proper technique, exercises, and music theory concepts along the way in a natural progression, grounding them with musical examples and making sure you know how to hear them, not just play them.
Using this method you will also learn to explore your creativity and how to compose your own music.
Homework comes in the form of a weekly practice routine consisting of exercises, song practice, and creative composition challenges.
For intermediate students who already have a good grasp on how to use their ear and can play sufficiently, we can dive in to learn more difficult pieces and advanced concepts.
This includes how to read sheet music, analyzing harmony and reharmonizing, transcribing jazz solos by ear, composing and arranging for multiple instruments, music production on the computer, and many others, depending on the interests of the student.

About Me
Hello internet musicians! My name's Matthew, I'm American, currently living in Greece.
I've been studying and playing music for more than 10 years and teaching for 5 years. This is my first foray into teaching online due to these times, and I think it's going to be fun.
I play Piano and Guitar and am certified in Music Theory. Whether you want to learn to play some easy songs in a relaxed way or take it to the next level and acquire the skills necessary to become a professional musician, I have you covered. Yes, kids are welcome too!
I believe that music should be fun first and foremost. It is my goal to find a way to make that a reality for every student, no matter what type of learner you are.
Everyone knows it is hard work to become a professional in any field in life, but not all of us want to be professionals! And if you do, it is important that the challenges you face are taken step-by-step, in a rewarding and engaging manner. There is nothing to be learned from a boring or overly daunting task.
What style of music do I like? Pretty much everything! I listen to and enjoy music from every genre and time period, so you can rest easy that whatever you want to learn, I'm in. Besides, you might be surprised how much more all of these styles have IN common than they do OUT of common. This is just one of the many surprising discoveries to be made while learning the mysteries of music.
So I'm offering three classes. Two are specific to the instruments I can teach at a technical level, Guitar and Piano, and the third class is designed for students who play some other instrument but want to gain a better understanding of Music Theory. See the description on each of those for more detail!
Thanks for reading, I look forward to hearing from many of you!
