Teaching in Guitar and Music Theory
Nathan teaches Guitar from beginners to advanced level players and teaches Music Theory up to grade 5 for all ages. Nathan’s lessons include breaking down the fundamentals of both guitar and theory, ensuring each student has a solid technique on which to build. Lessons with Nathan include:

- Fingering Technique
- Scales, Arpeggios and Chords
- Rhythmic Exercises
- Melody and performance
and anything else the student wishes to learn!

Nathan also offers students the opportunity to enter examinations using the exam board of their choice. He prepares his students for their respective exams by breaking down each technical component, with a specific focus given to each section of the exam. Whether the student wishes to focus on melody, rhythm, chords or just playing their favourite band’s songs, he will devote all his energy to providing the required tutoring in helping his students fulfil these wishes, whilst enjoying themselves in the process.

Nathan will give his all to teaching as many genres as he possibly can, although he has vast experience in classical and pop music (particularly Funk, Rock and Jazz.)

First Lesson
His first lesson with any student will be relaxed, with the aim of figuring out the students skill level and what they wish to achieve through their lessons. The student simply needs to let Nathan know their priorities in terms of what they wish to learn and their enthusiasm in achieving this. It is common for Nathan to prepare warm-up exercises for his students, such as stretching exercises for the wrists and hands, along with exercises to develop the technique of each hand, for example finger/plectrum exercises and chromatic scales.

My teaching style is practical, personalized and encouraging. I adapt each lesson to the student’s level, musical interests and learning pace.

For beginners, I focus on the essential technique and fundamentals while introducing simple complete songs as early as possible. For intermediate players, I can work on repertoire, accompaniment, rhythm, musical interpretation, technique and theory.

I teach a wide variety of music, including Italian folk and dance music, tango, Latin music, contemporary songs, soundtracks, French musette and European and American folk repertoire.

I believe that lessons should be enjoyable as well as productive. Rather than following exactly the same path with every student, I build the program around the person in front of me. I offer piano lessons suitable for students of all ages and levels. I have two Master's Degrees in Piano and 8 years of teaching experience working with children as young as 4 years old as well as adults. I aim to make my lesson fun and engaging while incorporating the essential theory and musicianship skills needed to provide a well-rounded musical education. Each student is different, so I therefore create an individual curriculum for each one, allowing them to learn at their own pace while playing music they enjoy!

You can spend years learning one new piece after another and still remain at roughly the same level: reading note by note, struggling to see the connections within the music, and feeling helpless without a teacher. The repertoire changes, while the quality of playing, musical thinking and independence change very little.

I do not believe this should be the normal outcome of piano lessons.

The most valuable part of playing the piano is the feeling of genuinely owning the music: being able to enter its world, experience it fully and bring your own musical hearing to life at the instrument. My role as a teacher is to make the path from the score to that state as direct and natural as possible.

I teach music as a system and a language. Students learn to see the musical logic behind the notation: to understand harmony and form, follow the direction of a phrase, recognise style and character, and gradually become more fluent and independent musicians.

My teaching is rooted in the Russian academic piano tradition, but the repertoire can be classical, modern, film, anime or jazz-oriented. What matters is that the work remains serious, attentive and musically meaningful.

I work with motivated teenagers and adults, from beginners to advanced players.

With beginners, I aim to make score reading fluent and natural as early as possible while developing an understanding of how music works from the inside.

If a student already plays but feels stuck, I identify what is actually limiting further progress. Difficulties that seem separate are often connected, and I work with the underlying cause rather than treating each symptom in isolation.

After a long break, I help bring existing knowledge and skills back into active use, identify the genuine gaps and organise what remains into a working system from which the student can move forward.

With advanced students, the work can include mental practice and principles from Stanislavski’s system.

I am a concert pianist and piano educator with 23 years of teaching experience, from private work with students of different levels to university-level teaching at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music.

I graduated with honours from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music and later completed postgraduate studies there. For more than twenty years I performed in Russia and internationally across Europe, Asia and South America.

I received first prizes at the Salieri–Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Italy in 2010 and the Max Reger Chamber Music Competition in Germany in 2011, and recorded two albums for the Melodiya label.

Hello! My name is Jade. I’m an undergraduate student and have been playing the piano for 15 years; I graduated from the Geneva Conservatory.

In my lessons, I focus on practice and improving technique. Although I have prepared lessons and pieces, I give my students a great deal of freedom in choosing their sheet music, the intensity of their lessons, and the type of instruction they need. I see the piano as a passion and, above all, an art form which, as such, shouldn’t become a source of stress or frustration.
