I am the teacher. I have over 20 years of piano playing experience and I am a qualified piano teacher with the Royal Irish Academy of Music having received the Associates Piano Teaching Diploma with the RIAM in 2015. I also graduated from Maynooth University in 2016 with a degree in Music.
I have a huge passion for music, and the piano, which I wish to share with you!
The beauty of teaching online means that I can teach you in your home whether you live in the middle of Dublin city centre or the far flung Arranmore Island of the coast of Donegal. I am especially excited to give those in more rural locations, who may not live in the vicinity of a piano teacher, the chance to learn how to play the piano.
Adult learners who wish to return to the piano or who have never played but always wanted to learn are encouraged to get in contact as I have morning / mid-afternoon slots available just for you! Take a quiet moment out of your day to do something for yourself and by Christmas you will be playing new songs for family and friends.
Children from the age of 8yrs + are welcome and I have evening slots available for them.
I provide a holistic approach to music teaching which means that you will become a well-rounded musician able to play in multiple styles and genres - not just classical! You will learn the piano in a fun, exciting way with an emphasis on play.
Looking forward to getting you started on your piano learning journey! :)

About Me
Hi everyone :)
My name is Mikaela. I am a friendly individual from North Kildare, Ireland. My parents had a piano in their new house as newlyweds before they even had a table and chairs! (I think it was destined for me to grow up to love the instrument).
I started playing as soon as I could sit at the piano but started taking lessons at the age of 7. From there I haven't looked back! When I was in Transition Year I started taking lessons in the Royal Irish Academy of Music with Hugh Tinney. Studying the instrument with him made me love it all the more and after school, I went to Maynooth University to further my studies in music.
While in college I co-founded an art collective with my friends, Common Grounds Collective. We did this as a means to help people share their creative talents with others. It was hugely enjoyable and I learned a lot from doing this! My love of creatives came from here too.
From here I have gone on to work in the music industry as a festival director of Féile Parkfield in California and as a band manager in Ireland.
I have 5+ years of piano teaching experience and I thoroughly enjoy being a piano teacher. I have recently launched Home Tone Piano Academy, my own music school, to bring the best piano education I can to my students in a streamlined and effective way. I'm really looking forward to starting with new students and sharing my passion for music with them!
