About Me
I have fifteen years of teaching experience in music education. I’m now working as a music teacher at Brent Music Service in London, responsible for teaching piano group lessons in several schools in Brent, with 4-6 students per class. The lessons include: improving students‘ piano playing skills through interesting musical games and finger exercises; enabling students to have a broad exposure to various genres of music through playing different styles of music pieces, maintaining their interest in music learning, participating in examinations and various music activities; enriching students’ performance experience and improving their self-confidence through group ensembles and individual performances. According to the job plan of Brent Music Service, I also participate in music education training, music curriculum research and other music activities.
Before I came to London I used to work in a music school in Beijing. I have rich practical experience in music education. Mainly responsible for the development of curriculum, which included the instrumental one-to-one lessons / chamber music lessons / instrumental online lessons, etc. I also responsible for the teacher management and teaching quality supervision, to interview and train new teachers, ensure that all teachers meet the requirements of the center. I have organised a wide variety of student activities such as termly instrumental performance concerts, collaborative performances with other institutions (e.g. dance and painting), conferences for parents, and I have taken students on exchange programmes to other countries. All of my students take ABRSM piano and music theory exams, of which 80% achieve Merit and Distinction, 100% pass.
