-I'm a young and ambitious musician, currently studying for my bachelor in Jazz and Pop Performance. My field is performing and teaching either piano or keyboards, using alternative methods and inspiring other musicians or beginners. I specialize in weird rhythms (polyrhythms and advanced rhythm patterns) and in an alternative and modern type of jazz.

-This class is for aspiring beginners or more skilled musicians of all ages.
The focus is to learn how to approach music both as a performing entity and as a curious student who analyses music's scientific nature. You'll learn how to use a variety of multiple different techniques and musical genres to grow as an artist. If you're an absolute beginner, there is no need to worry, patience is the greatest moral anyone can have, we will go through this together.

I'm a young jazz pianist who has been a part of a lot of different ensembles, orchestras and bands during the past few years. I have experience in performing live, as I've been actively playing with other musicians and during this year, I started teaching my instrument and basic theory lessons. I'm currently a member of:

My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education.
My experience runs mostly in early and chamber music, nevertheless I also have the experience and knowledge of popular musical styles such as Latin-American folk, jazz and musicals.
As a docent or vocal coach I've collaborated with different academic institutions and private artistic projects, focusing mostly on international students or social integration programs.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Would you classify improvisation as composition or performance? Well actually it is both! When you improvise you are composing music on the spot, performing what you have made up at the same time as you have composed it.

For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease.

The key to success is understanding chords. Once you know how chords are formed and know what notes make up a few chords you will be well on your way towards being able to improvise. We will, therefore, start by ensuring a firm knowledge of certain chords. After this we will progress to improvising a simple melody over the top of these chords. The next stage is to start using notes that are not in the chord. The process is then open ended with emphasis on developing the melody.

If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session.

Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.

I am a professional musician and have been teaching students of all ages for over 20 years. My experience as a teacher and my pursuit of self-improvement as a musician have led me to develop an effective method that I have already tested with over a hundred students.
