Hi, my name is Jim. I'm an electronic music producer with a Master’s degree in Music from the Fontys Academy of Arts (Rockacademie) in Tilburg, Netherlands. For me, making music is about building the skills and mindset to bring creative ideas to life and I’m passionate about helping others do the same. As Malvae, I have written, sung, produced, mixed, and performed my own music, reaching #17 in the Spotify Viral 50 charts in the USA, gathering millions of streams, and featuring in films like the upcoming documentary King of the Streets and a Netflix series. One of the highlights of my artistic journey was the Amazonas Project, where I traveled deep into the Amazon rainforest to record and transform natural sounds into a full-length concept album, blending storytelling, sound design, and music into a single experience. I had the honour of headlining my own show at Melkweg Amsterdam, one of the Netherlands' most iconic venues, and curated my own events while performing immersive, self-built live sets with visuals. I’ve also taught technical music skills at professional facilities such as Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum. Music has taken me to places I never imagined, from the Amazon rainforest to some of the most iconic stages and I'm excited to help you build your own creative path. In my lessons, I offer structured, personalised education in music production, composition, sound design, mixing, mastering, and live performance. I am a professional jazz pianist, singer, and composer, performing over 200 events per year. I studied in North Carolina, Los Angeles, and the UK. I teach all of the above at any level, and would be happy to discuss scheduling lessons with you. With teens and adults, I take a different approach and try to get the student to be able to play a simple song or piece after the first lesson. I also teach theory with each piece learned so that it is a natural part of the learning process. It’s very important for me that my students enjoy every lesson and have a bit of fun while they learn. If this sounds like a good fit, I look forward to hearing from you!
