Anything about music! Theory, composition, improvisation, singing, teaching music.

Music theory is not some boring slab of rules that tells you how you're supposed to do things. It's more a description of the way things naturally happen in music. And a way of agreeing how we communicate those things, so that everybody knows what we're talking about.
If you've always wondered a bit about music theory and what it could do for you, you're not the only one. Many people are kind of curious about it and at the same time afraid that it will be too difficult, that it will spoil music for them or that it will be incredibly boring.
All of that really really depends on how you go on about it. At what point in your musical development you learn about it, if you have a nice teacher that you feel happy to be around and if you are learning it with a clear purpose.
Learning some music theory in order to funkify your compositions for example, or because you want to clarify what you are doing when you improvise, is a clear purpose. Or learning it because you want to enter in music school, or just because you're interested. In any case, learning music theory is like learning to read. It gives you access to stuff beyond just being able to talk about it.
If you're curious enough to find out this is the perfect place.
In this class you will learn everything out there about rhythm, harmony and music notation.
Depending on what you like we can have you applying this knowledge in composition or improvisation.
We can prepare you for doing a music school exam if that is your goal.
From playful experimentation to hard, in-depth work, it's your call.

About Me
I was born in the Netherlands but raised in African countries and in England and therefore connected multiculturally right from when I was little. I love connecting to people from all over and I especially love connecting to someone who is eager to learn something.
I almost don't care what I teach - I just absolutely love teaching. Understanding something together is the most beautiful thing there is out there, to me.
I always find different ways of explaining things, preferably the most fun ones. Until we find one that suits you well.
I always find different, fun, challenging and interesting ways of applying the knowledge you are acquiring, so that you really learn it well.
Everything we do will be in a dialogue, as in we will always find the perfect balance so that you are challenged enough, but not too much.
I will always acknowledge if something that we are learning seems illogical or difficult or strange. Because sometimes that happens while learning something. I will never undermine you.
I will always enjoy you asking questions.
I have taught music, dance and emotional intelligence to people from all ages, all over the globe.
Right now I am staying in Mexico. Looking forward to meet you!
