I am a dedicated and experienced cello teacher with a strong emphasis on deep technique, mindful body control, and cultivating the right mindset. Whether you're preparing for an exam (AMEB, ABRSM, RCM), a concert, an audition, a scholarship, or simply learning for joy or personal fulfillment, I will guide you or your child toward your musical goals.

I began teaching cello at the age of 17, and now have over 20 years of experience. Since 2015, I have specialized in online instruction, and for the past six years, I’ve taught full-time online. I've developed a refined method that ensures healthy playing habits and correct posture, especially important for adult learners who are just starting out or returning to the instrument.

Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Cello Performance and Pedagogy
Trained in conducting, music theory, and ensemble instruction
Certified Art Therapist and Art Coach
I am also the founder of Cello and Friends, an online platform where I share my reflections, teaching insights, and personal experiences as a cello teacher through my blog.

My students range in age from 8 to 68 and come from all over the world. Some study for personal development, while others are preparing for entry into conservatories and music colleges.

In addition to cello, I teach music theory—from the basics to advanced jazz harmony—and offer support to young composers working on their own music.

I personally enjoy yoga, the Adriatic Sea in Croatia, mountains without internet connection, walking with my dog in the forest, and good music.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I’d be happy to help you begin or continue your journey with the cello.

Hello to everyone!
My name is María, I am a Venezuelan Cellist.
All my musical education was inside the musical program "El Sistema" in Venezuela. This education was based on preparing myself as a better human being though playing cello in orchestras, chamber music and as soloist.
I am current studying my Master degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.
In what consist my lessons?
Cello classes for all levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced), it does not matter if you have never played cello before or if you are already studying, the important thing is to help you achieve the goals you want with this beautiful instrument.
To have better results with practice, if it is necessary to help you with music theory, I will help you.
As well, if you're looking for help in orchestral excerpts for auditions, I'm here for you!
For kids, parental support is also important during some lesson, we are all a team and we need to work together to achieve the goals!
Classes can be in person at your house or mine (BRUSSELS, BELGIUM) or via videocall (Skype, Zoom, etc). The schedules are planned according to the time of the student and the teacher.

Looking forward to meeting you and work together!
Maria.

The most important thing for me is listening to music. If you are studying music as a hobby or in preparation for your professional career, we will help you achieve the greatest efficiency and get the most out of it by making our job easier. It is clear that learning music requires discipline and work, but can be interesting and expandable.

The flexibility lies in the main features of my classes: My goal for my graduates is that they need a digital method that they have to adapt to their personal attitude and style. The offer of classes for individuals and private groups of all students and the duration of the course are also flexible and depend on the training of the student (most of the little ones that Suelen was able to aprovechar in the last media lessons). Classes can be in Spanish, English, Dutch or Greek.

Language and music theory are presented in all classes, but in an organic form and with a lot of immersion in practice.

¡No people interested in contacting the site! :) :)

The most important thing for me is having fun learning music. Whether you're studying music as a hobby or preparing for your professional career, we focus on being as efficient as possible, learning as much as possible, and having a good time while doing it. Of course, learning music requires discipline and hard work, but it can be done in an interesting and satisfying way.

Flexibility is my main characteristic: my goal is to give you what you need through a dynamic method that adapts to your personality and your specific learning style. I offer both individual lessons and group lessons for people of all ages. The duration of the lessons is flexible and there is also the possibility of combining the lesson content between cello, piano and music theory. We can speak in English, Dutch, Greek or Spanish.

Music theory will be present in a natural and organic way in all lessons.

Contact me if you are interested! :)

Hello!
I am Irene, a graduated Master student at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium, and I offer cello lessons to people of all ages, both online and in person.
I have more than 7 years of experience teaching both adults and children, in private lessons, group lessons and music schools.
I have also taught music theory and piano to beginners.
The lessons could work in different ways: regular lessons every one or two weeks, or just a couple of times, etc. I have had students that only wanted to learn a bit, and I also have students that have continued for some years with me. I could also adjust the duration of the lessons from 30mins (especially for younger kids) to 1h.
The lessons can be in English and Spanish, and now also in Nederlands! (work in progress!)
The lesson can be in the student's home or in my studio in Vogelenbuurt, and also online! Flexible hours.
I give personalised attention and methods to each one of my students, as everyone is different!

If you have questions, please contact me!
I hope to see you soon!

My teaching method is carefully tailored to the specific needs of each student, regardless of the subject we are working on (music theory, cello, music history, analysis, conducting, etc.). The pace of learning is always set by the student, ensuring that each lesson aligns realistically with their goals and interests.

Whether you're looking for a more flexible, amateur approach — open to personal interests — or a more structured plan aimed at exams, auditions, or academic improvement, I design a personalized learning path for each case.

My approach is rooted in a highly practical vision of learning, inspired by the educational model in which I was trained during my master’s degrees in Conducting (Antwerp) and Historical Cello (Brussels). I view teaching as a dynamic process, where deep understanding takes precedence over rote memorization.

Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me.

Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on.

Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor.

Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing.

No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Adapting to your tastes, we'll go from baroque to blues, from Haydn to bebop... or even Michael Jackson. Why not?

If you identify with this approach, contact me! Learning the cello is a pleasure, and I'd love to share it with you!

My name is Miriam, I am a graduate in Master of Classical Music at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent.
I've been teaching cello to children, teenagers and adults for 10 years, so I've acquired the necessary experience to be able to adapt to the different and personal needs and objectives of each student. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher.

Growing with joy in playing – developing technique through favorite pieces.

One of the most exciting aspects of playing the piano is the ability to play favorite tunes from movies and Disney fairy tales. You can easily learn and play popular songs that both children and adults will enjoy. This makes practicing the piano even more interesting and inspiring, as you can enjoy familiar and beloved melodies.
Learn your favorite melodies with fun
In my lessons, we'll explore jazz and pop music together on the piano. We'll play the music you love. If you'd also like to learn classical works, we're happy to incorporate that music into the lessons. You'll also learn music theory and ear training (solfeggio) – in a relaxed and playful way, so the focus is always on fun.

This course is designed to build skills in either playing the cello, music theory, ear training, or all three! If you are seeking to learn cello this course is a great place to start. I am most familiar with the suzuki books, however I am dedicated to making cello and music as widely available as I can, so if access to sheet music is a challenge I am open to pursuing alternate lesson plans.
If you are a current music student who isn't seeking to learn cello but would like support in Music Theory or Aural Skills (also often referred to as Ear Training), I am more than happy to provide tutoring in those subjects.
