About Me

I'm a qualified and passionate language teacher! Since 2019, I've been teaching French, English and... Norwegian (yes, yes!).
I've lived in France, in Norway, in the Netherlands and in Spain and I've also travelled to other countries. I love travelling, learning new languages and discovering other cultures, places and people.

Obviously, that's what I studied for 6 years. I speak French, English, Norwegian, Spanish and I'm currently learning Italian.
All this has taught me a lot about what is efficient and what isn't when it comes to learning a foreign language, and I thus been using this knowledge to teach successfully, for several years.
Regarding English solely, I have so far been teaching around 400 hours, from Year 4/3rd grade to undergraduate level.

Of all these languages, English has always been my heart language (I started learning it at nursery school!) and I've been practising it on a daily basis for many years :)

Education

I started with a Bachelor of Nordic Studies, specialising in Norwegian (at the Sorbonne), during which I spent my final year in the most northerly university in the world.
Then, on my return to France, I took a 2nd year of Bachelor of English Studies (Université de Nanterre), before embarking on a Master 1 (Sorbonne) and 2 (Université de Poitiers) during which I learned what was to become a real passion: teaching languages :)

Experience / Qualifications

In 2019, I took my first step into teaching, going through well-known private tuition organisations. Then I ended up setting up my own business (Langualicia).
In the meantime, I also did a work placement for a few months in a European secondary school in the Netherlands, where I taught French to a class of Year 7/Sixth graders. I also spent a school year in a secondary school in Andalusia, where I worked as a French teaching assistant.

Having learnt 3 languages fluently, I know the frustration that their learning can cause! Even today, sometimes a word won’t come to my mind when I need it or I doubt about a grammar point! We can never know a language 100% and, what’s the worst that can happen? Being misunderstood? Taking refuge in English? Stammering? Being made fun of? Getting a bad grade? Missing out on a promotion?
So, what are the “solutions” to avoid?
❌ Hiring a student will certainly allow you to pay less, but you’ll also make slower progress as you won’t benefit from years of experience and optimisation of private lessons.

Cosy private lessons for everybody
I try to make my online lessons as cosy as possible. I use the video-conference system, so I can see my students and they can see me; we can talk, we make the exercises together, I explain all the grammar, and if my students have any doubt or questions, I explain it orally which I think makes it easier to be understood.

It is as if we were sitting in an office side by side. The only thing we cannot do is drinking a coffee while we study.

Besides the lessons, I always send some homework. I will send a book that we follow, and the rest of the material is sent by me by e-mail as well.

As soon as it is possible, I advise my students to start reading books in the language they learn, and from the very beginning to start listening to the TV. It is a way of being surrounded by the language.

I always insist a lot on the accent, and this helps. I have students with a perfect accent. Listening to the language also helps to open the hears to the sounds, making easier to understand. From the very beginning I also start with small conversations in each lesson.

You may believe that all my students are being very successful with this kind of lessons. I have now students from all over the world. Concerning the level my students attain, ofcourse it depends on them.

Together we see what your needs are and how fast you want to learn.

As for the number of lessons per week, I advise that you should have at least two. Less than two is very little and you have a long break between lessons. It is bad because you don't have any contact with the language and feel that you are advancing very slowly.

We can also have lessons in the weekend if that is easier for you.

I learnt chess when I was 5 and I have more than 25 years experience in chess at different levels and have won hundreds of tournaments. I have been member of the Iranian and Norwegian national teams and have played in chess olympiads.

Would you like to learn Norwegian from a Norwegian native speaker? This is your chance.
