Learning a language at school can be a daunting prospect, especially when there is an important exam at the end of it. As somebody with both a GCSE and A-Level in German, and much subsequent experience with the language including through translation work, I am eager to pass on my skills and advice and help students to thrive in their German GCSE, regardless of their ability.

GCSE History can pose considerable challenges to the student, predominantly due to the often unfamiliar way of approaching questions in the exam, and thanks to the wealth of information a student has to learn. My aim for this class would be to consolidate their learning, explain historical themes and concepts and offer guidance on exam technique. I am, however, flexible, and will respond to whatever each student needs. Though I am not a specialist in all fields of history, I have a broad understanding of historical themes as a whole, and can quickly absorb new information to benefit all students in their learning.
The Crusades are an often misunderstood period in world history, and this can make understanding them a complex task. As somebody who has studied the Crusades both at A Level and at undergraduate level (indeed, writing my dissertation on an aspect of the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem), I feel I am well placed to pass on my knowledge and skills. I am happy to help in any aspect of study, be it in understanding the period, people and events, or with other facets such as exam technique.
