About Me

I grew up in the western city of Tekirdag, Türkiye. After completing my education at a Teacher Training High School in Izmir, I studied English Language and Literature with the dream of pursuing a career in publishing. However, my path gradually led me towards teaching—a profession in which I found both purpose and fulfilment.
As a dedicated English Language Teacher with 14 years of teaching experience, I believe that language education should be engaging, purposeful, and deeply human. My background in English Language and Literature, along with my pedagogical training and Cambridge CELTA (Pass B), allows me to combine strong language knowledge with creative and effective teaching practices.
Over the course of my career in public schools, private institutions, and language centres in Türkiye, I have worked with learners of different ages, levels, and backgrounds. I enjoy designing lessons that give learners opportunities to explore English, express themselves, and build confidence through active participation. For me, teaching is not simply about transmitting knowledge, but also about helping young learners become curious, self-confident, empathetic, and independent individuals.
Having relocated to Zurich, I am eager to bring my teaching expertise, creativity, and adaptability to a new educational environment.

Education

My academic background combines a strong foundation in English language and literature with formal teacher training and specialised language-teaching qualifications.

I graduated from Hacettepe University in 2011 with a degree in English Language and Literature. My undergraduate studies gave me a solid understanding of English language, literature, linguistics and critical thinking, while also developing my ability to analyse and communicate ideas clearly.

To strengthen my pedagogical background, I completed a Pedagogical Formation programme at Yıldız Technical University in 2015. This training provided me with a formal foundation in educational theory, lesson planning, classroom management and teaching methodology.

In 2024, I further expanded my expertise by completing a programme in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language at Yıldız Technical University. This experience deepened my understanding of language acquisition and the challenges learners may encounter when learning a new language.

In 2026, I completed the Cambridge English Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA), achieving a Pass B. The course further developed my practical skills in learner-centred teaching, lesson planning, classroom interaction and language analysis.

Experience / Qualifications

-Ministry of Education (Turkiye)- Istanbul – March 2016 – December 2025/ I served as an English Language Teacher at multiple public schools across various cities in Türkiye for more than 9 years, instructing students between the ages of 10 and 18 at different grade levels. With this experience, I had the privilege of working with children from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. This role taught me immensely—not only about teaching itself, but also about understanding young minds and adapting to their individual needs.
-Doga College - Istanbul – September 2015 – February 2016/ Before starting my position at the Ministry of Education, I worked at Doğa College, a private school in Istanbul. Although my time there was relatively short, it was highly enriching, as I attended numerous workshops, webinars, seminars, and meetings that greatly contributed to my professional growth
-Dilko School of English - Istanbul – August 2012 – August 2015/ That position was my first professional experience as an English teacher. I spent three years working with learners of all age groups — from young children to adults — and collaborating with colleagues from almost every continent. Working in such an international environment was incredibly enriching; it broadened my perspective and helped me grow both personally and professionally. I also had the opportunity to use a wide range of coursebooks from various publishing houses, which greatly enhanced my understanding of English Language Teaching (ELT) materials. Much of what I know about ELT resources today stems from this formative experience.

I am a law student with dyslexia and ADHD, and over the years I have developed practical strategies that have helped me study, stay organised, and succeed academically. I now want to share those tools with children, teenagers and adults who may be facing similar challenges.
