Hi! I’m Femke, and I give personalized Dutch classes tailored to your goals – whether you need Dutch for study, work, travel, or just because you love learning new languages.

Although our main focus will be Dutch, I also speak English, French, Spanish, and German. That means I can explain tricky grammar points in a way that makes sense to you, and I understand what it’s like to learn a language from scratch. As a passionate language learner myself, I know the challenges, the frustrations, and—most importantly—the excitement when things start to click.

My lessons are interactive, practical, and always adapted to your needs. I’ll help you grow your confidence step by step, so you don’t just learn rules, but actually feel comfortable speaking and using Dutch in real life. Hi! I’m Femke, a native Dutch speaker from the Netherlands. I’m 30 years old, living on a farm with my husband and our two young daughters. I studied European Studies, Intercultural Communication, and Globalization, and I’ve always been passionate about languages and cultures. Besides Dutch, I speak English, French, Spanish, and German, and I know some Arabic too.

I love teaching, traveling, singing, painting, swimming, being outdoors, and making jewelry with crystals. I’ve taught students from all over the world and truly enjoy helping people reach their goals while keeping lessons fun and personal.

Education

I studied French Teacher Training and European Studies in the Netherlands, and later completed a master’s in Intercultural Communication and Globalization in Mexico. During my studies I also focused on Spanish, English, French, and German, and gained some knowledge of Arabic.

I’ve been teaching Dutch for over 4 years to people of all ages and backgrounds. From students preparing for exams to professionals needing Dutch for work, and newcomers wanting to feel at home in the Netherlands—I’ve helped many learners reach their personal goals. DUTCH FOR FOREIGNERS - ALL LEVELS - A0 to C1 / ONLINE LESSONS VIA SKYPE.
I teach beginners and advanced students. Special training is possible for integration exams or state exams.
All frequencies possible; once or several times a week. Lesson duration: 60, 90 and 120 minutes. Most students prefer lessons of 90 or 120 minutes, because 60 minutes is considered too short. I give CUSTOMIZED lessons at the pace that suits you. If you want to speed up, we speed up; if you want to slow down, we slow down; if you want to practice more, we practice more; everything depends on your general level of education and the time you have available - outside of class hours - to study and do homework.
Classes are available from 9am to 5pm; evening classes are negotiable. The available time slots on the Apprentus website are an indication only; since I do both short and long projects, I can often schedule you in at short notice, so you can start your course almost immediately.

NT2 - Dutch for speakers of other languages: help with the integration exam, State Exam I and II

Dutch lessons for non-native speakers at all levels, from A0 to C1. All frequencies possible: once or several times a week. Lessons of 60, 90 or 120 minutes. I adapt my lessons to your pace. I teach from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00. Evening lessons after 17:00 are also possible (in consultation); + 30%.
The times that there is room for lessons are only an indication!! Usually there is room at short notice, since I accept both short and long projects.

A qualified language coach with 25 years of experience offers intensive Dutch lessons in a small class or online.

I give many Dutch NT2 lessons to expats and in preparation for an integration exam.
Specialized in guiding for the State Exam I and II. Special exam coach.

In January 2025 I will also start with groups again. We have a great classroom in the center of Rotterdam, near metro station Beurs, lessons with small homogeneous groups (little difference in level).

We mainly go for quality and not just running a lesson. I am really involved in the progress of the student. In addition to teaching, I want to do everything to really motivate students to take the next step. That is my strength!

You can also choose the online lesson package with Whereby, Teams or Zoom in a comfortable way. Online classes are one-on-one or maximum one-on-two, for better results.

My English is fluent, as well as Portuguese and Spanish. I understand the difficulties of overcoming barriers for Latin languages and for expats in general, as I have also been an expat.

Online lessons last 75 minutes once a week for 10 weeks to reach a higher level.

This is the normal speed. Including exam training (A-2 or Staatsexamen) and exam at the end.

Intensive training ? That can also be done in five to ten full days, I am used to giving these very intensive trainings to CEOs or managers who want it faster and more intensive ... all lessons within 3 or 4 weeks. Based on the European system A-1, A-2, B-1, B-2 and C-1

As soon as students want to further improve their knowledge of Dutch, I always advise and coach them to take the State Exam I or II, the only formal Certificate in this country, recognized by employers and universities.

I will try to switch to conversation after a few lessons, to put your knowledge into practice as soon as possible. Don't get too caught up in the grammar.

Teaching is my ultimate passion and even after 25 years it feels like the first time and students always feel inspired to overcome the obstacles.

I also teach you about Dutch social culture, which is intertwined in the course and is strongly related to the language.

I provide lessons for the Nt2 Staatsexamen and Dutch Nationalisation exam (Inburgering examen)and Business Dutch for ex-pats and people who want to learn everyday Dutch. In the citizenship exam course, students learn about history, geography and basic vocabulary which are the contents of the exam. They learn how to respond to basic questions. Besides preparatory lessons for (Inburgering examen ,citizenship exam ,I teach Business Dutch( Zakelijk Nederlands) to expats. Online lessons are delivered through Google meet and Ms Teams and other online platforms. The lessons are conducted online as well as at a location in The Hague. Both private and group lessons are available.

I use several methods which are specially conceived to teach Dutch to people who have a different mother tongue. I really like to use methods out of the ordinary like role games or methods with which you learn while playing. All these adapted to the student's situation of course. As I learned myself a couple of other languages, it is easy for me to detect difficulties a student can encounter and adapt the way of learning. I can teach in English, French, German and Russian.

Prepare in an efficient, intensive way for the ITNA (Interuniversity Language Test Dutch), based on tailor-made exercises.
We practice together on language in use, grammar and vocabulary, gap texts, structuring exercises, dictation, presentations and argumentation.

In our class we will be relaxed, I will help you with the Dutch conversation, the grammar, reading (like an article or a topic what I will give you). I will help students for beginners-lower-intermediate level. After every lesson I will give you homework for the next lesson. Teaching children is almost "an art" Not everyone is able to place him or herself in the mind of a child and that is just so important! I teach playfully and at the same time they learn without really realizing they are in a lesson! I do this with diverse lesson material such as pictures, video's, and we are also practicing songs together.
