About Me

Hello, my name is Ruby. I am from the United States, but I am currently teaching English at a k-8 school in Madrid, Spain. I began learning languages from a young age and went to a bilingual school where I learned Mandarin. Then in high school and college I continued my Chinese studies while also picking up Spanish. I graduated college from Lewis and Clark college with a major in World Languages and a minor in Political Economy. Learning languages has given me so many amazing opportunities to interact and learn about different people and cultures and I love sharing my passion for language with others. If I had to describe myself in three words I would describe myself as kind, open and funny which I think is reflected in my teaching style. I really want to give my students a safe place to learn, take chances, make mistakes and gain confidence in their language abilities.

I am an English tutor, especially geared towards students learning English as a second language. I have experience teaching at a school in Spain with a wide range of students from 1st grade to high school. And also have experience teaching in the United States teaching university students English during a summer course. This class will include vocabulary, grammar, and conversation practice for students. I will prepare subjects to go over, but also am more than happy to tailor classes to specific subjects or topics the student interested in. I want to make sure my students are equipt with the fundamental building blocks of the language to be able to both understand and communicate.
