¡Hola! I’m Marina, a native Spanish teacher from Barcelona. I’m a friendly, enthusiastic and creative teacher, and I love helping students feel confident using Spanish from the very beginning.

My lessons are relaxed, practical and conversational, and always adapted to each student’s level, interests and goals. I teach children, teenagers and adults, from complete beginners to advanced learners, including GCSE and A-Level students.

Catalan is a romance language used by more than 11 million in Europe. Nowadays Catalan is fashionable because of its social movement in Catalunya, the fame of Barcelona and the multiple touristic attractions. In this course, the learning process is practical and combined with an immersion on the Catalan culture.

My method is based in creating visual scenarios in which you will discover the words to use and the right way to make sentences in that situation. Once we can have a small conversation in that scenario, we will repeat it at the next meeting and it will be included in our "refresh quarter" which is a 15 minute revision on all the words and ways of saying that you keep learning. My focus is on connecting the language to your needs and wishes to make sure the learning is well grounded.

For those and those who wish to find a minority language within reach, having fun and enjoying its literature, its language, its history, already followed linguists, historians, philologists or simply curious, I am here to help - you. We will live on a mind-boggling trip!

I am a native teacher from Barcelona, with a degree in History and as a Spanish teacher for foreigners. I also have a masters degree in teaching. I have been teaching Spanish and Catalan private lessons for over 15 years, but I’ve also taught in the context of cultural associations and the French and Catalan national education. I am always happy to be part of my students’ learning journey; no matter what level you have, we will learn plenty of things together! :)

I offer dynamic Catalan online classes adapted to each person and their needs. My lessons are oriented to all levels, using the language in real and pedagogic contexts. As a teacher, I am very interested in letting my students learn not only the language but also the Catalan culture, as it is a fundamental aspect to really be able to succeed in the learning process. In order to do so, we will work on all the different competences (oral and writing skills), grammar and vocabulary, of course, but also I like to use some real texts, videos, songs, etc., so we can get the chance to learn from real instructional materials and discuss the news and culture. The most important thing is to try to communicate in Catalan so you will become more and more fluent. We will get there step by step!

I’ve helped a lot of students pass their exams, prepare their interviews and resumes, or just be comfortable in their oral practise. I am a multilingual translator who has been working as a language teacher for 4 years now.
As my parents are Spanish (Catalan) and French, I am native in the three languages.
I have also studied abroad, so I have a C2 level in English (with the Proficiency Certificate). Hence, I also prepare students for all the Cambridge English exams (First Certificate-B2, Advanced-C1 and Proficiency-C2).

My first goal is making you feel comfortable and enjoy the lesson itself.
Then i will mainly focus on learning through conversation based on current actions and real life, as this is one of the most efficient way of learning a language, but without forgetting the gramar, spelling and reading comprehension which are the pilars of a good conversation.
You won’t have to worry about the material you will need to use, as I will offer it myself based on your level and goals. I love personalising all my lessons with the aim that all students achieve their own objectives, but what’s the most important is that they enjoy a ll the way through that; in Spanish we would say “Lo importante no la meta, es el camino hasta llegar a ella” or even in Italian we use the same expression “l’importante non è quello che trovi alla fine di una corsa, l’importante è quello che trovi mentre corri”.
