Learn German with personalized 101-tutoring! Being an ever-ongoing language learner myself, I am fully aware of the challenges and obstacles you are likely to face along your journey. After two decades of mostly self-directed language learning, I am convinced that anyone can learn any language, with the right tools, approach and mindset.

Before booking a lesson, I appreciate if you send me a brief message, including your recent learning experience, requirements and preferences. The more you share, the better I can prepare and personalize my lesson structure and teaching style!

I believe that language learning is always a personal journey, which, most importantly, should be enjoyable! I'm not a big proponent of old-school bookish teaching but rather invite my students to explore new, personalized methods and figure out together what works best for them.

Every class is tailor-made and customized to your level. My target group is self-motivated adults, ranging from complete beginners to native-fluent perfectionists, always in consideration of your individual goals, needs and preferences.

During my lessons, I encourage my students to speak as much as possible - ideally in the target language ;-) However, if you're just a beginner or don't feel ready to hold an entire conversation in German yet, don't worry! The lessons can also be held in English, Spanish, Italian, French or Portuguese, at your preference. We will then gradually increase the ratio, at your pace and without any pressure :-)

Make sure you have a working camera and microphone. For an excellent sound quality, I also highly recommend using headphones. I don't teach children or teenagers under 18. Cancellations less than 24 hours before the lesson will not be refunded.

Depending on the level of the students and/or their expectations (exam preparations/assessments/desire for improvement for example), I work on the choice of appropriate words, grammatical accuracy, the ability to formulate more or less complex sentences.

For exam preparations:

The courses offer to acquire solid tools to learn to write, to comment on literary texts and a methodology to work on oral comprehension. The student must bring their own exam preparation brochure, available in all bookstores. For Goethe Institute model exams, the exam books from Cornlesen are particularly suitable. The other alternative would be to download and print before the start of the course a copy of the Goethe Institute exam available on the institute's website.

For the oral comprehension:

Work from audio-visual viewings downloaded from the Deutsche Welle site, which offer various recordings adapted to all levels, with a very concrete approach. In the long term, the student acquires ease not only in oral comprehension, but also enriches his basic vocabulary through exercises. I also work on the Goethe Institut oral tests to familiarize myself with speaking.

For the work of the written expression:

I begin by explaining in the first lesson some methodological tools to acquire writing skills. The student has the opportunity to start writing during the course or do a writing exercise on duty and give it to me to correct (send by email or at the beginning of the next lesson). The corrections are explained in detail. In addition, at the time of booking, the student can send me a draft copy before the lesson so that I can meet his needs even more quickly.

Apart from my presence with the student, every lesson involves preparation time before and after the lesson, particularly for the work that I correct. My goal being to design an individualized course, I take the time necessary to write detailed comments on corrected work or advice to ensure maximum success for everyone.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.

When it comes to the alphabet, words and sentences, it's more or less the same, but school pedagogy, school textbooks and regular lessons still follow the rote learning approach. In the lessons I propose, you will learn to use patterns because this is more efficient and faster.
