Native English Speaker: Maths, English, French and Classics Tutoring
From 38 C$ /h
Hi, I'm Mary!
I'm currently on my year abroad, teaching English in France, therefore I am offering Skype-only tutoring sessions.
(I will be offering face-to-face lessons in Leeds from September 2018.)
I'm currently a student of Classical Literature and French at the University of Leeds.
Prior to this, I studied a semester at King's College London in Classics and French.
I received AAB at A Level in English Language, English Literature and French, and I earned full marks in both of my English coursework pieces.
I now have over three years experience as a freelance tutor in Maths, English, French and Classics. I also have experience as a trained tutor with the tuition company Explore Learning. I am currently working as a English language assistant in two primary schools in France, for which I have also completed professional training. I currently hold an international DBS certificate (ICPC).
I began as a freelance tutor while studying in London in 2014. I set up work independently, used my own resources and travelled across the city from client to client.
I then became a member of the Explore Learning Tuition team at the Sheffield centre in 2015. Here, I gained full training and experience in tutoring 4-16 year olds in Maths and English. My job involved tutoring up to 6 children at a time and working with children with various needs.
I continued freelance tutoring in Sheffield, and then in Leeds once I moved to study in September 2015.
Last year, as part of my degree, I was a French language assistant in a primary school in Leeds, although I also assisted teachers with their maths, english and other lessons.
During the first lesson, I will spend some time getting to know the student, their capabilities and the areas with which they may be struggling. I will attempt to gage their level and thus be able to offer lessons afterwards which will be tailored to their specific needs.
I recognise that receiving tuition can sometimes be quite daunting, and therefore I always try to put my students at ease, and will always do my best to approach subjects in the way that suits their learning style.
I love teaching, and tutoring has really been a highlight of my academic career. I have had some great experiences so far, and nothing is more satisfying to me than knowing I can make at least a little change to the lives of children I have worked with.
