I have spent the last 5 years designing a English course combining my business textbooks from university and the Cambridge English Language Assessment course to make sure my clients get the best possible outcome from my lessons.These lessons are aimed at helping individuals improve their English abilities from Listening, Reading, Speaking, Grammar and Vocabulary knowledge.

A typical class of mine starts with a quick discussion on the lesson topic, then we move on to learning 8-10 new vocabulary words associated with that topic, we will do a vocabulary test to see if you can correctly place the newly learned vocabulary words in a sentence, then we move onto a reading passage that tests your pronunciation of words, words that you may have not come across before, and then I will ask you questions on the topic that will require you to think and be creative. In the lesson there will be things like understanding memes or humour or explaining what you see in a picture etc. While the lesson is in progress I will be helping you to construct better sentences from adding the correct grammar to helping you be more creative with your words. I also will help with improving your pronunciation among other things.

I always adjust my teaching style to what best suits the client, if you need to express yourself more I will help show you how can add words to your sentence to make it sound better, If you need help on pronunciation, I will sit with you and break the word down to help pronounce it correctly, if you need help in your writing skills I will give you homework and check your homework for you, remember these lessons are about you and your goals.

My main goal in the lesson is to understand your needs and help you achieve those needs as no two clients are the same. I always try to create a classroom environment that is interesting, fun and entertaining so that the lesson feels like leisure time and not something you have to do in order to advance yourself in your career. I love building relationships with my clients and I want to inspire your passion for English. I am very kind and patient and always believe the lesson is about my client, you are the star of the show and I am just the supporting cast member.

Hi there,

My name is Ryan, and I am native English speaker. I was born in South Africa and I have a South African passport, but I also hold Canadian residency due to my family moving there when I was 10 years old as my dad had to relocate for work.

My educational background is I hold a degree in Accounting Sciences and a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Media Marketing along with a Tefl certificate.

I am currently in the process to acquire my Masters in Education with a major in Business Economics and English as a second language.

I have worked in a multinational company for over 12 years where I worked across various departments in three continents.

I have compiled financial statements for the year end audit, I have been on the advertising team to help create and roll out marketing strategies across all platforms from social media to traditional print to help maximise exposure for our brand in competitive markets and monitor the campaigns success. I have also presented in many successful boardroom presentations over the years.

I have been teaching English online for over 5 years to many people from all over the world ranging from Mendoza in Argentina, Łódź in Poland to Taichung in Taiwan to name a few.

My journey to start teaching English began when I first moved to Hong Kong for work and my department was filled with co-workers from every corner of the globe, we use to call it the “united nations” as a joke and I found myself in my break times being asked a lot of language questions from what does this mean in the email Ryan? or is this the correct pronunciation of the word? or even cultural questions as to how to respond in a positive tone to an email, I took great pride in helping people improve their English skills, I credit this move to Hong Kong as to where I found my passion for teaching.

A little bit about me, when I was younger my dream was to drive from the east coast of America to the west coast of America and I have successfully done that twice now (2011 and 2017)

My hobbies include cooking, I enjoy the challenge of trying to make new things in the kitchen even if the outcome is horrible and I have to order food that night, I love to surf and have been surfing since I was 6 years old and I enjoy all sports from football to baseball (I played shortstop when I was younger)
