Learn to Read Art: Personal Lessons in Art History and Visual Culture
From 42.28 C$ /h
I offer personal online lessons in art history and visual culture for students, beginners and curious adult learners. My teaching style is conversational, supportive and adapted to your interests or study goals.
Together, we can explore the classical canon of art history, analyse individual artworks, prepare for exams or essays, or focus on a specific artist, period or movement. I place strong emphasis on understanding artworks through the context of their time, historical thinking and different ways of interpretation, including approaches inspired by the Vienna School of Art History.
I have around 10 years of teaching experience and currently teach visual culture and art history at secondary school level. My goal is to help you look at art with more confidence, curiosity and depth.

About Me
I am an experienced teacher of art history, visual culture and humanities, with around 10 years of teaching experience at secondary school level and additional experience teaching at university level. My background is in interdisciplinary arts studies, which allows me to approach art not only through dates, styles and famous names, but also through philosophy, culture, history, religion, society and the ways people make meaning through images.
In my teaching, I try to create a supportive and intellectually open space where students can ask questions, develop their own interpretations and gradually build confidence when speaking about art. I believe that art history is not only about memorising facts, but about learning how to look carefully, think contextually and understand different ways of seeing the world.
Alongside my work as a teacher, I am also currently training in psychotherapy and have a long-standing interest in Zen Buddhism. These areas deepen my attention to dialogue, presence, personal experience and the individual learning process. My lessons are therefore structured and informed, but also personal, reflective and adapted to the person I am working with.
