My IB tutoring sessions provide a structured and student-led environment where learners are in charge of their own progress. With seven years of experience teaching the IB DP, I have taught and can help with Geography, ESS, History, and TOK. Additionally, I have been guiding students through the Extended Essay as the EE coordinator for three years, so I know the IB and have the resources to help students develop organization, critical thinking, and research skills that foster confidence and independence in the diploma.

Being new to the Netherlands, I have a flexible work schedule for this year. Having studied in the USA and UK and worked with diverse international learners in Africa and Europe, I bring a global perspective and warm, multilingual approach. Each session is online through Zoom and uses Zoom's interactive whiteboard. Lessons are not didactic, but are tailored to individual learning styles, blending academic rigor with empathy and adaptability. My background as a special needs teacher enables me to differentiate instruction and provide strategies that meet students where they are. I place strong emphasis on essay writing, data analysis, and exam techniques, ensuring that students not only understand the content but also know how to apply it effectively.

About Me

Professionally, I have taught IB Geography, ESS, and TOK, and I have also served as an Extended Essay coordinator, guiding students through the research and writing process with a focus on organization and critical thinking. Earlier in my career, I worked as a special needs teacher in both primary and secondary schools, an experience that strengthened my ability to adapt lessons and approaches to individual learning needs. I have also contributed to curriculum development for Geography, ensuring that the material is engaging and aligned with IB standards.

My teaching style is student-led: I provide the structure, resources, and support, while students take the wheel in setting the pace and depth of their learning. I focus on building self-awareness, confidence, and exam techniques that suit each student’s strengths. I grew up in-between Mexico and the Netherlands and completed a bilingual education in English and Spanish. I passed my GCSE examinations after Grade 10 and attained a final score of 42/45 points in the IB in 2021. After graduating from a United World College, I move to The Hague to study at Leiden University, where I obtained a BA in International Law (summa cum laude).

I started tutoring at 14, but only began doing it regularly four years later at the IB level. My professional experience has also included college-level student assistantships. My approach to learning is influenced by my own diverse background. I have studied under different systems in the Mexico, the Netherlands and France, which allowed me to experiment with various learning methods and discover what works and what doesn't. When it comes to the IB, I especially understand how to structure written assignments (including IAs, TOK essay and the EE) and have several tips to achieve the highest results.

Many students struggle with essay writing and performing in humanities based subjects such as geography and history, which can be extremely stressful as these subjects are often mandatory for the curriculum and in order to pass high school. Hi I am 21 years old and am currently a student at Leiden University doing a bachelor of sciences in environmental sustainability. I completed my A levels in Maths, Physics and Biology with grades A in Maths and Biology. I also did an AS level in Chemistry from the British School in the Netherlands.

I love science and geography and did my primary education in English and got all grade 9s in my science and geography GCSEs and a grade 8 in Maths.
