Hey there, good to e-meet you!
I’m Jeri, 33, Irish, and have been living in Uruguay for the past year. Full time, I manage a sales and project management team in Microsoft’s consultancy division, and I have been teaching English for over 10 years.
This experience includes 3 years at the University of Leeds where I taught English Literature modules to undergraduate BA students. In addition to that, I have been a private tutor for over 10 years with well over 100 regular students across a range of disciplines.
When I’m not working, I enjoy playing football, going to the gym, hanging out with friends, and all things arts and culture: museums, theatre, live music etc.
- 3 YRS - University of Leeds, Seminar Tutor
- 11 YRS - First Tutors, Private Tutor

Experience / Qualifications
I have been a private tutor for 11 years now, in addition to 3 years of academic teaching (undergraduate seminars) at the University of Leeds during my PhD (Shakespeare Studies). Although English Literature, and its Renaissance period especially, is my natural forte, I have had over 30 long-term tutees across English Literature, Theatre Studies, History, Sociology, Psychology, Childhood Studies, and French and Spanish.
Additionally, I teach English as a second language. As such, I can offer support in rewriting and reworking academic assignments into standard formal English.
My approach depends heavily on the student, as I tailor classes to suit individual needs. Depending on your requirements, I suggest an initial session to get to know each other and to unpack your learning objectives. From there, I typically build a learning/teaching plan which we work through in a shared document (Google).
