Ten years teaching IB Math and Physics one-to-one, every lesson myself, and I publish the results I can prove:
• a final 7 in IB Physics SL (May 2025, from a 3, the first exam session of the new syllabus)
• a final 6 in IB Math AI HL (May 2025, from a 4)
• Grade 7 in both IB Math AI SL exam papers (May 2024, from a 3)

How I teach: bring the question your child keeps getting wrong. I find the first step that isn't reliable — a missing concept, a misread graph, an algebra slip — rebuild the explanation around how your child thinks, then change the question to check the fix holds. Each week starts from what is live at school and last week's wrong answers.

IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) — algebra, functions, calculus and proof, Paper 1 without a calculator and, at HL, Paper 3. Applications and Interpretation (AI) — modelling, statistics and the graphic display calculator. AA or AI, SL or HL: I help families decide from the university courses the student is aiming at.

IB Physics, SL and HL, on the current guide: the five themes, Papers 1A, 1B and 2, data-based questions, uncertainties and graphs; at HL, the extensions and the long extended-response questions. My engineering training (M.Sc., Politecnico di Milano) shows in how I teach it: define the system, state the assumptions, then connect the model to the mathematics.

The IA and the Extended Essay: guidance only, within the IB's academic-integrity rules — the student writes every word.

I have worked for 6 years now with kids from international schools who were "hating" maths because the methods used by their IB teachers were too complicated and hard to understand.

I believe that no one is "not mathematical", we just have to find the way to approach the subject together; I have indeed a few teaching methods that can be adapted to a kids' needs, I believe every kid needs a different method to fully understand the subject.

I provide 3 types of lessons that represent 3 phases:
1. THEORY - Understanding the theory behind the exercises, this phase is the shortest since I believe that to fully understand maths you need to exercise.
2. EXERCISES - Doing exercises divided by subject we. just went through in the theory part.
3. PAST PAPERS - Going through past papers to "simulate" a potential exam.

Dividing the process in 3 phases has proven really effective in succeeding not only during the year but also at the final exams.

When I interviewed with Optiver, Flow Traders, DRW, Maven Securities and All Options, I prepared seriously. At my desk I could solve the probability questions and the mental maths without much trouble. In the real interview, with someone watching and the clock running, I got nervous and made mistakes I normally wouldn't. Looking back, what I needed wasn't more theory. I needed practice under real conditions, with someone telling me exactly where I went wrong.

That's what these sessions are for.

Each session is a mock interview in the style used by the major market making firms, followed by detailed feedback. We work on:

Mental maths under time pressure
Probability and expected value questions
Market making games: quoting a two-sided market, updating as new information arrives, managing your position
Betting and decision games
Estimation questions
Explaining your reasoning out loud, clearly and calmly
Behavioural questions like "why trading?" and "why this firm?"
