About Me
We are Sarah M'Punga, lyric mezzo-soprano, and Stefano Secco, lyric tenor, two Italian artists who have developed an international career in the main theaters, opera houses and festivals in Italy and abroad.
Our careers have led us to work in international institutions and productions and to tackle a vast operatic repertoire, with different but complementary experiences.
Today we wish to share this experience with singers who want to progress, deepen their technique and develop their artistic personality.
Joint Coaching was born from the desire to offer a different kind of work: to allow a singer to benefit, during the same session, from two professional perspectives that can complement and confront each other constructively.
Our goal is not to impose a single way of singing. On the contrary, we seek to help each singer better understand their own instrument, identify its possibilities, and build an interpretation that corresponds to their voice and personality.
We wish to pass on what several years of working on stage have taught us: technique must be at the service of music, speech and expression, and the preparation of a singer must take into account not only the voice, but also the score, the style, the character and the concrete requirements of the stage.
Teaching together allows us to create a personalized, demanding and constructive workspace, in which the student benefits from two artistic experiences brought together around their own journey.
### Our method
Our approach is based on the meeting of two complementary professional experiences: that of Sarah M'Punga, an international lyric mezzo-soprano, and that of Stefano Secco, a lyric tenor with an international career.
Joint Vocal & Opera Coaching is not simply a two-person course. It is an individual session during which the two artists work together with the singer, simultaneously bringing their experiences, musical sensibilities, and professional perspectives.
Since each voice is unique, the work is adapted to the student's level, vocal characteristics and objectives.
The session may include vocal technique, breathing, support, projection, resonance, legato, musicality, diction, phrasing, and interpretation. Particular attention is also paid to the relationship between voice, music, text, and character.
Repertoire work is an essential element of the coaching. Sarah M'Punga brings in particular her experience of the great mezzo-soprano repertoire and the Verdi repertoire, while Stefano Secco brings his experience of the great tenor repertoire and the main roles of Verdi, Puccini, Donizetti, Massenet, Gounod and other composers.
This complementarity also allows us to approach the work of a duo, an opera scene or a vocal ensemble by considering both the individual line of the singer and his interaction with the partner.
Coaching can be particularly suited to advanced singers, conservatory students, young professionals and singers preparing for an audition, competition, concert or new role.
Our goal is to convey a concrete experience of the stage and to help each singer develop a free, conscious and expressive voice, as well as a personal interpretation, musically sound and adapted to the demands of the repertoire.
